That's ideal for me since I... read more [+] like recording random sounds that I stumble upon like the truck that picks up the dumpster, an arguing couple, people singing at the bus stop, etc. It charges quickly and easily via USB. Once it's plugged in my Mac, up pops the drive icon and I can put them anywhere I want. So simple. The included software is enough to process and sequence your audio. If you need more you probably already have more. The only real con I've experienced so far is the lack of a meter while recording. When you want to record, you press record and are in standby mode. In standby mode you can adjust the gain (with a meter) and place the mic, etc. When you press record again, the unit starts recording, but the meter goes away. You're only left with a peak indicator. You can still adjust the gain but a meter in record mode should be there. The carrying case is very nice and will (I think) absorb a modest drop. It also has a mount for a stand. I'm very happy with this purchase. The unit does what's promised and I think the price is right. close [-] Great unit at great price

Seriously? Three hours of recording on PCM (wav) mode, then a jump to 33 hours on the next highest quality setting (128 mp3). My fingers are crossed for a firmware update (at least 160kbps, please!!). Also, it's not the quietest device I've ever heard. For low-intensity recording, expect an audible hum to work its way in.
