Innovative Virtual Circuit Modeling - not sampling
Due to the Plugiator's Virtual Circuit Modeling, its plug-ins sound and behave like real hardware - not just recordings of it - for a livelier, more intense sound.

Capable of storing eight plug-ins and tons of presets
The Plugiator can store up to eight different DSP plug-ins and can load any one at a time at a push of a button. Each plug-in comes with 100 presets, allowing you to store up to a whopping 800 different sounds.

Easy to switch between presets and plug-ins
Besides its incredible sound, the Plugiator's wealth of easy-to-use control knobs may well be its next biggest asset. Not only do you get the full-on sound of classic synths, the Plugiator has eight knobs to really get inside and sculpt the tone. The last three knobs control delay time, the level of the delay effect, and chorus - and these knobs stay constant throughout all plug-ins. Though, the other five knobs morph to different sound design parameters, depending upon which plug-in you're using. Plus, because it's so easy to switch between plug-ins and presets, you have access to a stunning array of tones at just the push of a button or turn of a knob!

Includes four free factory plug-ins:
Thanks to its modular design, the Plugiator can load different synthesis plug-ins with different synthesis architectures, enabling a wide field of sound possibilities. Each Plugiator comes with four great plug-ins.

  • MiniMax
MiniMax is the highly acclaimed replica of the famous synth legend. This plug-in gives you incredibly fat and responsive sound, as well as intuitive control. Tweaking its knobs is pure fun!
  • LightWave
While the oscillators of the LightWave are based on wavetables, the aftermath is virtual analog, giving you wide control of the sound. From complex pads to powerful leads, LightWave offers a vast range of sonic possibilities.
  • B4000
The B4000 turns your CME into the Queen of Organs. The genuine sound of a real living electromechanical 400 pound monster. It's lively, authentic, and expressive.
  • Vocodizer
The Vocodizer is one of the most flexible vocoders ever developed. Plug in your microphone and enjoy spectacular, voice modulated sounds. This plug-in is available as a free download on the Use Audio website once you've registered.

Includes vouchers for four additional virtual synths
  • Prodyssey
The Prodyssey is modeled after the historic counterpart and rival of Plugiator's Minimax-modeled synthesizer. Featuring a distinctively different character, more control possibilites and an amazingly intuitive interface, the Prodyssey is still as exciting today as it was "in the days!"
  • Pro-12
The first polyphonic and programmable synth to become popular also became an instant legend - he Pro-12 has all of its smooth analog sound and plenty of presets which were heard everywhere throughout the 80s.
  • FMagia
A new synth creation and a journey into great sounding FM synthesis. Thanks to its easy-to-use interface, sound design for FM is more fun than ever before.
  • Drums 'n' Bass
Amazing analog drum machine sounds with a bass section - Drums 'n' Bass will turn your Plugiator into a true beat box.

Handy plug-in manager software
When connected to your computer via USB, the plug-in manager software lets you tweak each plug-in via its GUI and manage the presets you want stored inside your plugiator!

Online sound database
Use Audio also integrated an online sound database into the friendly plug-in manager software that allows you to listen to new user-uploaded presets by just clicking your mouse. Rather than downloading and installing sound banks to see whether or not they're right for you, you can conveniently listen to new sounds from the internet instantly with your Plugiator.

Highly portable
The Plugiator is incredibly small, yet offers you an arsenal of synth power wherever you need it. You have no need for a computer with the Plugiator, just toss it into your backpack with a 25-key MIDI controller, and you're ready to perform. This small box has eight encoder knobs, ten "quick pads" for finding your favorite presets, MIDI I/O and Thru, USB, a microphone input, stereo line outs, and a headphone output. I was blown away by the sound quality

by Koni Yamaha from Dallas, TX

But first, let's talk about the cons. The notes would hang if you feed midi clock to the plugiator so I disable midi clock from my alesis fusion. The outputs are unbalanced which helped lower the cost... read more [+], not a big deal if you keep your cable short from the synth to the mixer. People complained about the number of knobs on this things. The truth is it has more knobs than a yamaha motif or roland fantom rack.

I was blown away by the sound quality. The minimoog emulator is the best minimoog emulator I've ever played and I've played quite a few. The sound is so analog tasty that would put the Arturia minimoog V into shame. The prophet-5 and ARP Odyssey are pretty good too. Remember in the old days when th0se Creamware asb were sold for over a grand. Now you can have them all for under $500 or under $400 if you buy them new from ebay.

8 plugins are plenty but I hope that Use audio will make a electric piano plugin in the future. close [-]

If you always wanted a minimoog.........

I bought this unit just for the B-3 sounds. The organ sounds are very good and can be set-up with your favorite draw bar settings as well as all the minute details associated with the vintage sound. T... read more [+]he real kicker for me was the killer synthesizer sounds that also come with the unit. If you can't find the sound you're looking for on this unit, it can't be done. From leads to pads to orchestral strings, this unit rocks with the best of them. close [-]

This synth is the way of the future

by Cale McCollough from Eugene, OR

Music Background: Electronic musician, horn player, producer, promoter, audio engineer.
Once I saw this synth, wanted it really bad. Conceptually, this synth rocks. I think that most synths will be like this in 10 years. I bought one and had it for a week but the the unit I got had one f... read more [+]law that lead me to return it. The power chord cuts out if you push on it. Its defiantly the internal connection. The connector is low quality. If you watch the demo video on Use Audio's site, the same thing happens in the video. You could just solder the power chord in permanently and that would fix the problem. I would imagine they would have fixed that defect by now. I returned it so I could get the Ableton Live Suite so I could have Ableton's instruments. I wish I had kept this though. The Ableton Instruments aren't worth the money (Although he version 8 upgrade is). The Plugiator doesn't have all of the parameter knobs on it but all of the synth parameters are accessible via MIDI so if you set up your MIDI controller right, its just as good as a rackmount with all of the knobs. Especially if you have a Novation Remote SL. My only other criticism was that the audio signal wasn't hot enough. I only had it for a week though so I might just not have set it up right. On the other hand though, you could run it through a dual channel tube-pre and get some extra character out of it. All in all, I would buy this again and have plans to do so. close [-]

What an amazing device! Don't let the Plugiator's unassuming look deceive you - the thing is packed with features and a wider tonal palette than you could imagine. I spent about a week with this thing... read more

Our Customers Say...

I can talk to my Sales Engineer about any piece of equipment, and he always steers me in the right direction. He truly knows what he's talking about, and he never tries to over-sell me on anything. If he worked in the Nashville area, I'd probably owe him about 20 dinners by now!
