Highly recommend this controller.

Great key action. All the keys are very consistent. The motorized fader really helps my workflow. Plug it in, install the drivers, and it just works. (I'm a reaper user)

Panorama P4 (service issue)

My name is Nathan Alston, and my submission, here, has to do more with service, as opposed to a review of the Panorama P4. However, I must preface matters by saying that the Panorama P4 is one HECKUVA piece of equipment. This controller is just leagues ahead of any other controller that I have used. And, with its Reason integration, this thing just shines so blindingly bright. I have always maintained that I would have, unflinchingly, paid twice the selling price of Propellerhead's Reason software - because of all that it offers, in one complete package. I LOVE Reason. Regarding the Panorama P4, I would have had no issue with having to have paid twice THEIR selling price, for this ultra fantastic keyboard controller. This thing is just UNBELIEVABLE. But, let me now get to the REAL meat of this posting.

This controller was purchased somewhere in the vicinity of three years ago. Shortly after taking in receipt of it, I ran into a slight problem. The button above the number eight slider had, somehow, snapped off - therefore, preventing me from altering parameters which could be adjusted by that particular button. Word, about this, had gotten to Nektar, and they responded to my situation in a way that I (at that time) wasn't feeling good about. I didn't know it, back then, but they (Nektar) had received information that I was looking for a replacement part. But that was not the case. I was feeling some kinda way because of knowing that my controller was still (at that time) under warranty), yet the company was to be leaving ME to open up my controller, and replace the knob elements.

Just yesterday, I learned that the whole thing revolved around miscommunication. What I had said, to the online retailer who sold the P$ to me, had been misconstrued. Therefore, Nektar did the best that they knew to do, under those circumstances. Present communication, however, has proven that the Nektar folks are, indeed, of VERY high caliber characterisms.

I reached back out to them, earlier today, and really didn't know WHAT to expect. If the original warranty on my P4 was one year, then it would mean that I am (now) at least two years outside of the warranty period. The tech stated that he didn't want me to feel hampered, in any way, and advised me that he was going to ship me out a new circuit board. He went on to say that he (if I wasn't comfortable doing the replacement, myself) would speak to his superior about another option for me.

Now, I don't know about anyone else, but 'I' see this as something straight out the ordinary. They didn't HAVE to take that position with me. The warranty is two years dead. They could have left me to wade in the waters of where I was. But, no - they stepped in to make matters RIGHT, for me.

Nektar produced a piece of gear that I am TOTALLY in love with, and have (since) shown me that they are concerned enough to stand behind their manufactured wares.

I cannot say ENOUGH about Nektar. Just keep up the good work, and keep on being the caring, and considerate fole that you ARE.

Fantastic Integration

Using this with Logic, Cubase, and Reaper is such a pleasure. This is my first integrated controller, and it actually works! Makes me enjoy using these DAWs more than ever before.

Excellent Cubase integration and plugin control

I love my Panorama P4. It is excellent at both DAW integration and plugin control. I have gone through a few controllers in the last few years. I've had a Novation Impulse and Axiom Air. I also just sold my Komplete Kontrol, which never worked properly with Cubase. On neither of those could I get plugin control to work as I wanted. Oh the Panorama, it's a matter of minutes to set up a plugin just how I want it and it just works. You get four pages of eight rotaries each for effects plugins, and the four pages of rotaries plus eight sliders for instruments. I assign the sliders to the macros of my synths. It's a pleasure to have fine and expressive control over these parameters.

As for DAW control with Cubase, it's well thought out. I use it mainly to set levels, pan, sends, and EQ. It's great to be able to just listen to the music and adjust all these parameters with sensitive dials. For send levels it's especially good because Cubase's send controls are fiddly and imprecise. The transport section is also well done and easy to use. For example, you can jump to the locators with one button.

The one thing Komplete Kontrol and Akai Advance have over the Panorama is preset browsing from the controller. To me, the DAW integration trumps that. Also, I wouldn't argue for those keyboards being much better as a plugin controller because it's easy to set up the Panorama just how you like it n
