I work sound for a small venue and a lot of the bands play super loud like there's no tomorrow. Even if the bands aren't loud, I like to keep my ears fresh to be able to mix the next band. March 17, 2013 Music Background: Pro Live Sound Engineer, Live/Studio Recording, Musician When I first wore the Planet waves ear plugs I thought they weren't working because I could still hear everything. When I had to mic the drums the drummer began playing while my ears were right next to the snare and I was impressed because I can hear the drums clearly, with no muffle, and my ears were protected. Every now and then I do remove them to make critical decisions for 6 kHz and above, delay and reverb effects, and just to make sure that what my ears are hearing are true. (You can hear everything but there are some sounds or frequencies that just don't translate as well as you hearing without the ear plugs) I can still pick out feedback with them on and they are perfect for when someone in the audience wants to shout in my ear that the mix sounds great. The only draw back I can say is that they are extremely easy to lose, so if you purchase them, guard them with your life! (Especially if you want to keep your hearing abilities.) close [-]
