Crown PZM-30D ReviewsSweetwater Advice
Stuart Niven
Yes, you can use this as a conference microphone and yes, it is an amazing
mic, flat and present but real. However... the day I ventured to throw this baby two feet in front of a drum set, on the floor, in a tunnel made out of a blanket and introduced the signal to my close friend, the compressor, set it to nuke, I have never been the same since. Serious wow factor when you sneak that bad boy up in mono in a mix behind the drum set! Too much? I think not! Customer Reviewsfrom Montreal Quebec Canada June 16, 2011 Music Background: Drummer / Recording Engineer / Producer Crown PZM'sI have used all kinds of microphones in my life on both drums overheads, acoustic guitars, acoustic Bass, etc..I found that the pzm's area true as you can get reproduction of the sound source as I have ever heard. When I used condensor mikes for cymbals, It always changed my snare sound, and caused phase problems. I always had to spend a lot of time equalising. With Pzm's I put the mikes 2 ' away from the cymbals, and it sounds awesome flat. Try This, you will be amazed with the results. from Florida February 27, 2011 Music Background: Recording engineer and musician Know what it is and how to use itDon't be swayed by the guy that gave this mic 1 star. This is one of the better PZM's out there. Like any mic it has to be used correctly. I do a lot of remote work and my Crown PZM saw action three times this week.from Washington DC November 18, 2010 Music Background: Director of Music Disappointing response on a lecturnThis has not worked for me on a lecturn in church. I have gain turned up to the max and still I get only a slight response. I'm using a London Architect Blu 30/80 system and state of the art amplification yet the sound while being clean and accurate is way lower than the rest of the layout (5 shures) I must have a dud. |
