What Makes a Product a "Demo"?
At Sweetwater, "Demo" usually means one of the following:
  • It might have spent a little time in our display room.
  • A Sales Engineer may have put it through its paces to explain it to customers.
  • It could have been tried out for a few days.
We treat demo models exactly as we treat new gear. You get a full manufacturer's warranty, as well as Sweetwater's commitment to customer satisfaction. Other than it having been in someone's hands or hanging on a rack for a brief period of time, it's as good as new - at a great bargain!

Light and serviceable

Music Background:
If you want a weighted keyboard that won't strain your back when you take it to gigs, there aren't many options. The PX-130 is one of those few options. Frankly, I don't use the onboard sounds. Rather... read more [+], I use it to control my Roland Fantom XR, which is a fancier, more versatile sound source. The PX-130 doesn't sound like the Fantom, but the casio is quite serviceable for piano/EP. I'm unimpressed with the other sounds, but then I'm accustomed to higher end gear. The string (upright jazz) bass is fine though. Note that the audio outputs are mini jacks instead of 1/4 jacks.

To be honest, the keybed is a bit stiff/heavy for me. It's not totally unplayable like the M-Audio 88ES. But the keys still do push up a little too much for me. And the heaviness makes it not condusive to playing "fast" on it. If you're into heavier actions, you may like it more than I do. I prefer the Roland actions, especially my notably light RD300SX. (But the Casio is 10 lbs lighter). The PX-130 is for someone with a heavy touch (and no tendonitis).

For use with a computer, the casio's USB connection works without needing any special driver. It works well with Windows, MacOS, and Linux. Note that the casio doesn't have MIDI Out jacks, so you can't directly connect it to some MIDI sound source. You need a computer, or USB hub, to connect to other gear. The PX-330 has the MIDI Out.

Has built-in speakers. Plenty loud enough for your living room. I wouldn't gig with them. But I do gig with the PX itself, and it seems surprisingly roadworthy for the price.

You do get a lot for the money. Just make sure you don't mind a heavier action. close [-]
