Easy to Use

This is a really cool product. For most applications, I record one track at a time (I record two tracks at a time for any stereo signals). I use a Fast Track Pro USB for the inputs. I use Rockit 6 ... read more [+]speakers for the monitors.

This works great on a P4 system I built 6 years ago. I just followed the Digidesign suggestions for tuning the PC to optimize it for ProTools.

It has great built-in effects for guitar and just about every other rack effect (multiple EQ units) built into the software that can all be customized for each track. Also has built in synth and midi sounds so if you're not a keyboard player, you have keyboards in the software. Additionally, it has built-in drums.

The only thing I would want that it doesn't have is more drum kits. But you can get these as add-ons. It's really amazing. close [-]

I've used many DAWs (Acid, Magix, and even a demo of Pro Tools 7.4) and this is unlike anything I've ever used.

Every aspect of this software is so user friendly. The design is sleek a... read more [+]nd smart. It comes loaded with plug-ins. The virtual instruments are phenomenal and sound very real. Xpand2 has just about every instrument you could think of right at your fingertips and the MiniGrand is the most realistic synth piano sound I have ever come across.

Pro Tools also has a new feature called elastic pitch so you can adjust every individual note in your project. This makes it very easy to fix mistakes and make harmonies.

If you're looking for a great DAW for a reasonable price, this is it. close [-]
