Upgrade To Pro Tools LE 6.9!

This is a paid upgrade to Pro Tools LE 6.9 for registered Pro Tools LE system owners who don't have Pro Tools 6.7 Call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer for full information on upgrading your Pro Tools LE system. This update will not be available for download. Pro Tools 6.9 software combines features introduced in Pro Tools 6.4, 6.6, and 6.7 software. The music creation features introduced in Pro tools 6.7 are very significant, so we have included the "Pro Tools 6.7 at a Glance" and "Pro Tools 6.7 Features" below the discussion and features of Pro Tools 6.9. Digidesign Pro Tools 6.9 software brings a new cross-platform feature set to Pro Tools TDM and LE systems, with an emphasis on post production and advanced mixing functionality. New in Pro Tools 6.9 LE Software: Track Selection Enhancements: Pro Tools 6.9 lets you select a range of contiguous tracks in the Mix or Edit window. Path Selection Enhancements in I/O Setup: Pro Tools 6.9 lets you select a range of contiguous paths in the I/O Setup dialog. Solo Latch Options: When this option is selected, pressing subsequent Solo buttons does not cancel previously pressed solos. Improved Grouped Playlist Synchronization: Creating new playlists with grouped tracks automatically increments the suffixes of the playlist names for each track of the active group. This lets you revert back to an earlier take by switching the playlist takes by group. Using this method, you can add new tracks to the existing group and the suffixes for their playlist names will be synchronized with the original tracks. New EQ III DigiRack Plug-In: EQ III is a new DigiRack EQ plug-in that provides the following features:
  • 1 Band, 2-4 Band, and 7 Band Operation.
  • Flexible EQ types for maximum CPU and DSP efficiency.
  • Interactive Display Editable frequency display for quickly viewing or editing the EQ curve.
  • Double Precision Arithmetic Enhanced 48-bit processing dithered to 24-bit output.
  • Control Surface Support Designed to fully compliment the EQ sections of supported Digidesign control surfaces.
  • On Pro Tools LE systems, EQ III is available in RTAS and AudioSuite formats as a mono or multi-mono plug-in.
Plug-In Menu Organization Enhancements: In Pro Tools 6.9, you can customize how plug-in lists (plug-in menus) are organized in the Insert Selector or Plug-In Selector. Use the ÅgOrganize Plug-In Menus ByÅhpop-up menu in the Display Preferences page to organize plug-in menus in a Flat List (with plug-ins in alphabetical order), or by Category, Manufacturer, or Category and Manufacturer.
  • Organize Plug-In Menus By Pop-Up MenuhFlat List Organizes plug-ins in a single list, in alphabetical order.

  • Category Organizes plug-ins by process category (such as EQ, Dynamics, and Delay), with individual plug-ins listed in the category submenus.

  • Plug-ins that do not fit into a standard category (such as the DigiRack Signal Generator), or third-party plug-ins that have not had a category designated by their developers, appear in the Other category. Plug-ins can appear in more than one category.

  • Manufacturer Organizes plug-ins by their manufacturer (such as Digidesign, Eventide, Line 6, and McDSP), with individual plug-ins listed in the manufacturer submenus. Plug-Ins that do not have a Manufacturer defined will appear in the gOtherh manufacturer folder.

  • Most Digidesign-distributed third party plug-ins will be grouped under Digidesign when view by Manufacturer is enabled.

  • Category and Manufacturer Organizes plug-ins in two levels of menus. The top menus display plug-ins by process category (such as EQ, Dynamics, and Delay), with individual plug-ins listed in the category submenus. The bottom menus display plug-ins by manufacturer (such
  • as Digidesign, Eventide, Line 6, and McDSP), with individual plug-ins listed in the manufacturer submenus.

  • When the "Organize Plug-In Menus By" option is set to Category or Category and Manufacturer, an Effects subfolder appears in the plug-ins menu if you have any Effect plug-ins installed. The Effects subfolder organizes special effects, multi-effect processors, and other plug-ins. All plug-ins that specify their plug-in category as an Effects type will be displayed within the Effects subfolder.
Control Surface Support: Control surfaces with single-color displays (such as Command|8) do not indicate plug-in view choices. They display contents of a plug-in folder as a single list of plug-ins. (While control surfaces with single-color displays do not indicate plug-in choices, Pro Tools software continues to display plug-ins according to theÅgOrganize Plug-Ins Menu ByÅhsetting.) New or Enhanced Automation Features: Pro Tools 6.9 lets you suspend or unsuspend automation on-the-fly (without having to stop the transport), as follows:
  • Any automation mode can be switched from Off to another automation mode during playback or record.
  • Playback of automation can be suspended or unsuspended on-the-fly.
Track View Selector Enhancement: when Suspending Automation In Pro Tools 6.9, the Track View Selector turns a darker grey when Automation is suspended. Constrain New Breakpoints to Next or Previous Automation Value: With Pro Tools 6.9, new automation breakpoints can be constrained and written to the same value as the next or previous breakpoint. Changes to Avid Compatibility MXF Audio Import, Playback, and Export: In Pro Tools 6.9, Pro Tools supports import, playback, and export of MXF audio. MXF audio files can be imported the same as other audio files (such as .WAV and AIFF). With the DigiTranslator 2.0 option, MXF audio files can be exported (or bounced to disk). MXF (Material Exchange Format) is a media file format that includes both video and audio files, and is designed for the interchange of audio-visual material with associated data and metadata. It was designed for improving file-based interoperability between servers, workstations, and other content creation devices. AAF and OMF sequence format files can refer to MXF media files, or have MXF media files embedded within them. Pro Tools does not support AAF embedded sequences. Integrated "Send to DigiDelivery" command: streamlines worldwide collaboration. Support for third-party library managers: such as CND NetMix to sort audio and spot files directly to the Pro Tools timeline. New Localization Support: Full Korean and Simplified Chinese Localization Pro Tools software and documentation are now available in Korean and Simplified Chinese, as well as Japanese. Multilingual Application Support for Pro Tools TDM Systems (Localized OS on Mac OS X Only) An English and localized version of Pro Tools (such as Pro Tools Korean, simplified Chinese, or Japanese) can now be opened on a Digidesign- qualified Macintosh that can run English and the localized language versions of Mac OS X.

Pro Tools 6.7 Pro Tools 6.7 software has been developed specifically for inspired musicians who require world-class tools to support and accelerate the creative process. With Pro Tools 6.7 software, MIDI sequencing capabilities are more comprehensive than ever, while MIDI recording, editing and mixing features are still as easy to work with as audio. Digidesign Pro Tools 6.7 at a Glance:
  • Dozens of workflow-enhancement improvements for both audio and MIDI functions
  • Easier track creation, improved plug-in interface, new time and tempo operations windows and more
  • Upgrades available for Pro Tools LE system owners
Dozens of workflow-enhancement improvements for both audio and MIDI functions The audio and MIDI feature set in Pro Tools 6.7 has been greatly expanded to deliver tempo-dependent audio placement, tempo-dependent automation, graphic tempo editing, precise control of meter changes, MIDI step input, enhanced support for instrument plug-ins, MIDI Detective, and Beat Detective LE. Pro Tools 6.7 also brings true cross-platform parity for simplified session transfer with major MIDI functionality enhancements to Windows Easier track creation, improved plug-in interface, new time and tempo windows and more Many of the improvements in Pro Tools 6.7 are a direct result of requests and suggestions from long-time users. Digidesign has made significant strides with this upgrade to simplify menus, make track creation and plug-in setup quicker and provide graphic access to time, tempo and other editing functions. Features in Pro Tools 6.7:
  • New Tracks Dialog Improvements - Allows users to create any number of different track types from a single dialog box.
  • Color Coding for tracks, regions, markers and groups
  • Undo History
  • Plug-In Interface changes - Changes include the addition of Next and Previous settings buttons for easily stepping through presets as well as a Plug-In Settings dialog box for recalling and auditioning settings. Also included is a MIDI Node display, which makes it easy to see from where a plug-in is receiving MIDI data.
  • Multiple plug-in outputs for instrument plug-ins
  • Tick-based tracks - Users can choose to make individual audio tracks, aux inputs or master faders either sample based or tick based. Tick-based tracks are tied to Bars/Beats and will move in relation to tempo/meter changes.
  • Tap Tempo changes - Ability to determine tempo by tapping on either a MIDI or computer keyboard.
  • Time Operations window - Single window for managing meter changes, moving the Song Start Marker and inserting or cutting time into any point within a session.
  • Tempo Changes - Fast and precise drawing and editing of tempo curves are now facilitated through the Tempo Editor pane, including nudging and trimming of tempo segments.
  • Tempo Operations window - A new window used to establish Tempo Changes over time. These changes can be constant, linear, parabolic curves, S-curves, scaled or stretched.
  • Graphic Tempo Editor window - Another way to view and edit Tempo changes using the Grabber, Trim or Pencil tools.
  • Beat Detective LE - Allows rhythmic grooves to be extracted from audio or MIDI tracks and then applied to other audio or MIDI tracks. Note: The LE version does not support Collection Mode or use across multiple tracks like the TDM version.
  • Beat Detective MIDI analysis - Provides ability to extract groove information (rhythmic and dynamic) from MIDI tracks and apply it (or any of the preset grooves) to any other track (audio or MIDI). This feature also contains user-selectable MIDI chord recognition algorithms and the ability to generate beat triggers from a MIDI selection.
  • MIDI Step Input - Quickly and easily enter MIDI note information using a MIDI controller and computer keyboard.
  • MIDI I/O support for Windows XP
  • Non-Administrator (Standard) account support - Allows non-admin users to use Pro Tools while preventing the ability to install software and access local disk and server locations that should remain restricted.
There are now more reasons than ever to upgrade to Digidesign's lastest version of Pro Tools. All of Pro Tools new features come from the suggestions of users - from project studio owner to pudio professional working in the highest levels of music. It just makes sense to have these features in your Pro Tools system.

Give some & take some away

Although this latest version has a few more bells & whistles I still prefer the version 6.1 because you at least got a few more free plug in's like Maxim which isn't available on the ver... read more [+]sion 6.4 except for the trial version which only lasts 30 days. Also this is their last upgrade for Digi 001 which basically means they are trying to force you to spend more money by upgrading to Digi 002 which may not be an affordable option for users that are on a tight budget. Like most manufacturers they are abandoning the system that got it all started & saying thanks guys for making us the number one computer based software manufacturer around but we have to leave you out in the cold for the people that can afford to spend thousands more than you ever will. So I've returned to analog recoding which may not be as fast at editing but at least I know it will always be there. close [-]

It has a lot of new features over 6.0 and a whole lot more useful things that 5.x didn't have. The mouse scrolling is a very nice touch.

Sweetwater ALWAYS exceeds my expectation in sales, customer service and knowledge on the gear being sold to me. Sweetwater is my #1 choice to buy equipment from the first time I ordered. I find of great value the fact that I don't feel like one more customer, rather THE customer.
