Protools HD 10Always had trouble with PT9 crashing due to lack of memory. Now I just allocate 48 Gb and never a problem. Sounds better too...in the upper mid-range more depth of field...noticeable on reverb tail and drums.

Pro Tools HD 10, upgrade from 9Being a life long Pro Tools user, I have watched it grow since the early '90s. Every new upgrade brings a few surprises, mostly pleasant. As I depend on PT for my livelihood I am always nervous about a software update, especially one as global as this. I am pleased to report, however, that once I bit the bullet and went forward with HD 10, there were no problems whatsoever. My biggest fear is that a third party plug-in won't work. But, as far as I can tell, they all do. My only complaint is the cost. Over the years I have consumed a lot of Digidesign/Avid software, but this cost me $999. The benefits, for that price, are small. This coupled with the fact that when v. 11 comes out I will be forced to trade in or decomission my HD hardware makes it particularly hard to take. Come on, Avid. Devoted professional users should be given some credit for their years of loyalty!
