When Sweetwater visits the Paul Reed Smith workshop, we get the opportunity to see their secret stash of tonewoods, reserved only for the best-of-the-best PRS guitars. We specifically selected the woods on the Private Stock #6471 Custom 24 to create a playable work of art. From the exquisite 1-piece quilted maple top to the figured koa back, we know you'll find the Private Stock #6471 Custom 24 to be an amazing instrument all the way through.

Sweetwater's guitar buyers selected the tonewoods on the Paul Reed Smith Private Stock #6471 Custom 24. The one-piece quilted maple top looks amazingly three-dimensional, thanks in large part to the carefully hand-sanded finish. The back is figured koa. And the neck is Tasmanian blackwood, topped with a Brazilian rosewood fretboard. Mother-of-pearl side dots, paua bird inlays with mother-of-pearl outlines, and Phase III locking tuners with Brazillian rosewood buttons complete the package.
Wide-ranging tone from 85/15 humbucking pickupsTo create the 85/15 pickups, PRS took their Standard Treble and Bass pickup design from 1985, and update them with everything they've learned since then. The original '85 pickups were voted one of the 33 biggest pickup design innovations by Guitar Player magazine. The updated 85/15 pickups balance vintage character with modern clarity.
Pattern profile neck feels great and plays smoothlyThe Private Stock #6471 Custom 24 is fitted with PRS's Pattern neck. A hallmark of PRS quality, neck shapes are, of course, critical to your playing experience. Perfected after years of prototyping, the Pattern neck is an updated Wide Fat PRS neck style based on designs Paul Reed Smith did in the '70s and '80s for Carlos Santana, Peter Frampton and Howard Leese of Heart. The Private Stock #6471 Custom 24's bound rosewood fingerboard with exquisite inlays completes the package.
