Customer Reviewsfrom Charlotte, NC December 27, 2011Music Background: Electronics Engineer, Recording/Audio Engineer, Electric Bassist Performance and ValueI am currently ordering two more of the Behringer PS400 outboard phantom power supply (I have previously ordered a pair) because I have found them to be a very good value and quite capable.I am 54 and have made a career in the Electronics Engineering and Technical field, as well as being a semi-professional working musician and Recording/Audio Engineer for the past 25+ years. I originally needed outboard phantom supplies for a matched pair of pencil condenser microphones for a recording project and opted for the Behringer PS400 supplies. Despite the shadow of being manufactured in China, I found the supplies to be functional and quiet on top of being very economical. I have used my supplies with Neumanns and AKGs as well as Behringers and CADs (a cross-section of condenser mics) and found NO sonic abberation in the microphones' output due to power supply issues. If there is ANY drawback, it's the plug-in power pack ("wall wart") that powers the PS400, but anyone that records will tell you that wires and cables are the bane of existence for this line of work, so what's one or two more to have to deal with? (I may opt to build a small rack and put a single supply with isolated (decoupled) branches just to keep it tidy, but that's just me.) I gave these a 4.5 out of 5 ONLY because I believe that nothing ever deserves a 5.0 but these are top-notch and deserve a strong rating. If you;re looking for an economical and worthy outboard supply, this certainly is one. Support Sweetwater for making these available at such a great price! |
