What is a Paul Reed Smith Private Stock Guitar? Private Stock guitars are simply the finest guitars that PRS builds. Crafted from some of the finest pieces of lumber in the world Originally, when a load of instrument-quality lumber arrived at PRS, craftsmen sorted through the material and set the "best of the best" aside, sometimes designating certain pieces for bodies, necks or fingerboards. Eventually, this collection of the finest lumber became known as "Paul's Private Stash," - as in Paul Reed Smith, of PRS guitars - and, soon enough, the most talented, seasoned guitar makers at PRS began applying their skill toward the creation of these Private Stock instruments.
