PRS Quality in an Acoustic-electric Guitar! With an allure all of its own, PRS's SE Angelus Standard acoustic-electric guitar gives you much of the sound, feel, and style of the original Angelus. This gorgeous, painstakingly crafted instrument provides you with the sweet sound, rich dynamics, and exceptional clarity that only spruce-topped mahogany can deliver. You'll be amazed by how expressive and powerful the voice of the SE Angelus Standard is. What's more, PRS outfitted this SE Angelus Standard with one of their active under-saddle pickup systems. Top it off with signature PRS bird inlays and fine appointments, and you can't help but be impressed by the remarkably affordable PRS SE Angelus Standard acoustic-electric guitar.
Paul Reed Smith SE Angelus Standard Acoustic-electric Guitar at a Glance:
PRS's SE Angelus line gives you amazing acoustic sound for a great low price
When PRS first turned their attention to acoustic guitars, it became instantly clear that Paul Reed Smith can make acoustic guitars with the best of them. And when PRS announced the SE Angelus line, those of us who'd been playing their SE electric guitars for years got really excited... and for good reason. If you're not already familiar with the SE concept, these foreign-made models put many US-made guitars to shame - and at a price that's so good it almost isn't fair. When you get your hands on your PRS SE Angelus Standard acoustic-electric guitar, you're going to be flat-out amazed by the look, feel, and above all, sound of this affordable instrument.
Fine tonewoods meet signature PRS appointments
The PRS Angelus Standard features a 15.5" Angelus body with a solid Sitka spruce top and beautiful mahogany back and sides. The neck of this Angelus Standard follows Paul Reed Smith's "wide" neck shape and is carved from choice mahogany. A rosewood fretboard gives the neck extremely smooth feel and rich tones, and the signature bird inlays denote the Angelus as a member of the PRS family at first glance. In all, the Angelus Standard manages to strike the perfect balance between modern eye-catching adornments and a traditional acoustic appearance that's steeped in history.
PRS custom pickup system provides excellent sound onstage
Naturally, great acoustic sound is one of the most important things about any acoustic guitar, but when you're up onstage in a crowded venue or a noisy bar, no acoustic guitar is going to be loud enough on its own. That's why PRS outfitted their SE Angelus Standard with their proprietary electronics system. The PRS pickup system is an under-saddle electronics system that naturally senses vibration right at the point where it's the clearest and most intense. This gives you a clear and strong voice, with a very low chance of feedback. Just in case, PRS also built a 3-band equalizer and an anti-feedback loop into the SE Angelus Standard's electronics system.

First PRS - won't be the last

Music Background: Guitar novice but improving daily!
I'm relatively new to the guitar scene - about 1.5 years in - but I ... read more [+]have a PRS 245 SE electric and really liked the quality of the SE guitars. Previously, I had a novice's beginner guitar. This was my step up to a better instrument and I couldn't have picked a better guitar.
I do see where details could be improved on the actual parts and construction but that's not to take away from the guitar. I think that's what you pay for in the non-SE version which is like $6k. So, I'm more than happy paying $900 or so for this model!
Very potent glue smell in the case (case is awesome too!) but I think that's because it's so new.
Finally, this was my first purchase on Sweetwater. I was really blown away by the service and will continue buying from them. close [-]
Above average quality
by Paul from Evans City, PABought the standard from Sweetwater a few weeks ago, and I must say that Sweetwater continues to set the standard for customer service. The overall looks of the guitar is outstanding. I couldn't fin... read more [+]d a flaw on mine (mahogany). The integrity of the guitar seems to be pretty good, although I think the tuners are slipping a little. This should be an easy adjustment. Action is good; could be a little higher at the low end as there is some buzzing and neck itself is a little thin and narrow for me (I have large hands). Unplugged, this guitar is average in my opinion. My Martin DRS2 has more girth with a broader tonality. The woods are different which may account for some of the difference. When this guitar is plugged in, it's absolutely amazing! PRS has found the "sweet" spot for the location of the pickup. It's simply crystal clear. Personally, I think it rivals the Aura, Elipse, and certainly the Expression System (which I've never been a fan of). The attention to detail, wood grades, structure and pluged-in sound make this a great buy for the price. If this axe was made in the US and tweeked a little, it would probably run between $2,000-$3,000. Thanks PRS! and double thanks to Sweetwater and Sales Engineer Paul Rowan for making this purchase painless! close [-]
