Huge recording possibilities from a recorder no larger than a TV remote It may look small - that's because it is small - but don't think for a second that the TASCAM PR-10 is some stripped-down toy of a handheld recorder. In addition to an impressively high-quality stereo microphone, the PR-10 houses a digital recorder that lets you record at up to professional-grade 24-bit/48kHz resolution. That makes it perfect for on-the-go field recording, sampling, and many other uses that require high-resolution audio. It also records to MP3, which you'll find handy for those extended recording sessions. Flexible onboard tools for recording ensure that you get the best possible sound One thing TASCAM's lightweight PR-10 isn't light on is recording options. For starters, it offers you both manual and automatic gain controls ensuring that you get solid levels without clipping. The PR-10 also protects your recordings from noise by providing you with both a low cut filter and an automatic noise reduction filter. There's also a built-in folding stand, so you can prop your PR-10 up for hands-free desktop recording, and a built-in speaker lets you check your recordings without digging out a pair of headphones. All of the recording and playback modes you could ask for If you're recording with your band, then you'll appreciate the PR-10's automatic record mode, which waits for a strong enough signal to begin recording - just what you need to get into position. The PR-10's timer mode is also super useful. It lets you set a specific time of day to begin recording, which is useful if you want to record your live performances. Variable speed playback lets you adjust its playback speed from 50% to 200%, without changing the pitch of your material. That's great for learning new music. What's more, the PR-10's handy folder-based playlist management makes organizing your tunes and recordings easy. TASCAM PR-10 Handheld Digital Recorder Features:

Got one of these because it was super cheap and I really needed a dedicated stereo recorder I could for field recording with my DSLR video rig. I got it for use with my RODE NT4 stereo mic, and it doe... read more [+]s the trick nicely. It's got a couple of minor drawbacks you should know about. The DAC is a little noisy, but let's be honest, if it sounded as good as an H2n or something, then it would ruin my faith in the audio industry altogether. Besides, it's a static hiss you can remove in post no problem with RX2 or anything even resembling it. I also with there was any way to mount it to... anything. This thing's so small, you can't really even jerry-rig something for it, without covering up the speaker... not that that's such a big deal for me. December 6, 2012 Music Background: Engineer, Musician, and Video Post On the plus side, it takes 32GB cards like a champ and 24-bit/48kHz resolution is nothing to complain about. The biggest surprise for me was the quality of the onboard mics. They're a tad darker than my NT4, but for the price, you really can't complain. All-in-all, if you need something that can do stereo recording at a price that won't force you to have another one of *those* conversations with the wife, then this baby's for you. close [-] Big Things in Little Packages
