Remo silent stroke heads

These things work real well. When I first played my kit- there was no way I could practice without angering the neighbors. When I put these heads on my wife didn't even know I was playing in the next room until I hit the cymbals. Now I need the Cymbals! Lol- great product- could even be used in a loud indoor venue with Accoustic set up instead of a travel drum kit.

Save your marriage! (if you want to)

So my wife asked me what I wanted for my b-day and I told her that I had a present in mind for both of us, given my revived interest in playing. For the sake of her sanity, the cat, the neighbors, UPS guy, etc, I got these. I bought them individually though b/c I have odd sizes and some roto-toms. They arrived so quickly, my wife thought I pre-ordered them before she asked what I wanted for my b-day.

The good news is that she can't hear my playing. The bad news is that neither could I when wearing earbuds and drumming along with various songs. Sooo...I added some clear Gorrila tape to the heads and gave them a little more volume (the tape comes off easily, so no worries there). It's counter-intuitive, but the head works by letting all the air escape, so the tape blocks some air and gives more volume. Even worked with the roto's. After installing these, she has yet to come downstairs and ask, "Are you done yet?!"

Thanks Sweetwater!

Excellent solution for my practice setup

I use an acoustic Peal Session kit and trigger them through an old Roland TD-11 for practice. I've tried a number of the 'quiet' solutions on the market - including the R-Tom Black Holes. The Black Holes are very high quality and work well, but I struggled getting them to work effectively with the Roland triggers (due to the rubber rims on the R-Toms). The Remo Silent Strokes allow me to silence the drums and use the original rims to mount the Roland triggers. The Silent Strokes are a little 'spongy' when compared to the original heads, but still work very well with the Roland triggers. The setup is certainly not cost-effective, but works very well - and my neighbors don't know I am a drummer.
