From Our Research Team:6" Steel Mesh Pop FilterA pop filter is used with microphones to shield the diaphragm from sudden bursts of sound which can cause a popping effect. The shield is "transparent" to sound passage and does not interfere with the movement of sound towards the microphone. Pop filters are commonly seen in recording studios situated between 1" and 8" in front of a microphone. This Raxxess 6" steel mesh pop filter protects sensitive mics from plosives that can damage your tracks and your mics. Comes with stand adapter and gooseneck.

ReviewsFilter Works Perfectly - but construction not up to Raxxess Quality

5 Stars for the perfect functionality of the steel mesh filter. This filter stops the "plosives" but lets the full frequency of the voice pass through without any coloration at all. I highly recomme... read more [+]nd this filter to all, aside from what I note below.January 24, 2011 Music Background: Recording since 1969 1.5 Stars for the build quality on the rest of this thing. I've been buying Raxxess products for 22 years or so and their quality has always been excellent. However, this POMT-ST 6 is made in China and I am quite surprised that the Raxxess team would dare to put their name on such a poorly made item. As soon as I removed it from the packaging the black paint on the gooseneck started flaking off. The plastic threaded screw mount that holds the filter onto the gooseneck is a soft material and stripped out immediately on tightening. Easy fix with some tape or epoxy, but not necessary if they used metal. The stand clamp looks like it was homemade, really crappy looking, and the hard nylon tip on the screw that tightens against the mic stand should be rubber, as it can slip and slide. The gooseneck does stay in place but time will tell how long it will hold tension after repeated use. Bottom Line: The filter works perfectly and I do recommend using this product for that purpose, the rest of the hardware is your typical cheap Chinese so you'll have to give it some TLC over time to make it last. Professional Studios stay way from this one and go with the Royer PS-101 or a Stedman close [-] |
