  Very nice piano sounds
by Peter Thompson from Ames, IA, November 2008
Music Background:  Church music director

I've had this expansion board in my S80 for two months, and I'm very pleased with it. The samples are full, well-balanced, and pleasant -
not over-hyped at all.

When I play live, I mainly rely on piano and Rhodes sounds. Switching between the two can make piano patches sound like toys. However, these piano samples sound warm and full, even right after switching from Rhodes.

One more thing: the board was very simple to install.

  Very nice acoustic piano
by Warren B. from Grand Rapids, MI, September 2006
Music Background:  Pro Musician

I researched and was aware of what's dubbed as the "tambourine sound" that is heard after key release, but I must say, this issue doesn't stick out like a sore thumb in my opinion. The sampling of the CFIII concert grand was well done, and I feel Yamaha made a good compromise when it came to the compression they used vs. quality.

I'm now enjoying expressive playing on my S80 with a great three layer sampled concert grand piano.
