ReviewsBest of the Best in Foot Pedals
by Richie Miller from Joshua Tree, CA
I got this instead of spending 2 grand on a vintage Taurus Bass Pedal. It does a million things the Taurus can't, as well as trigger any synth that has any sound close to what the Taurus had. I use ... read more [+]this to also trigger the chord pads on my M3. Could the Taurus do that? Nope. So this is a no brainer if you want an additional foot pedal that can trigger any sound from any synth you have - hardware or software, or any other midi function you can possibly imagine. Patch changes, Pad triggering, and accompaniment are the things this does and does like no other pedal on the market. And it is a tank. Roland smokes the competition, as usual. close [-]

I've used one of these for years with a Roland midi tone module exclusively set up for bass. I don't beleive anyone makes a set of bass pedals with built in sounds anymore. Over the years I've used ... read more [+]probably four differant manufactures products. The first two were early 70's products; Bassmate and Crumar and had the sounds built in. My last two pedalboards were just controllers. Of all of them the Roland PK-5 is the best made. It's built rugged for any kind of road use. I wish that they had bass sounds built in to make it easy when playing gigs, but you gotta take what you can get.May 23, 2011 Music Background: Years of performing in restaurants, nightclubs and for special events. I sing, play guitar and harmonica and play the bass on the PK-5. I'm really surprized that more people don't actually do that. It really turns up a solid sound, If you add a " live" drummer you've got a whole band. close [-] The workhorse of midi bass pedals

Excellent midi bass pedal. Very rugged. Built to survive on the road. I've been using one for many years, gigging at least twice a week ant it has never let me down. I have used other plastic model... read more [+]s but as far as I am concerned this is the best. My only complaint is having to use a wall wart to power it, I only use the original Boss recommended power supply and they last maybe 6 months. Otherwise an excellent buy. close [-]

The PK-5 is a wonderful addition to my gear. It has met every expectation. I'm not quite blown away--yet. I need a little more time to explore all of its possible applications.
