June 27, 2012 Music Background: Serious Hobbist 20+years Excellent Cabinet!

This cab is excellent! I play in a down-tuned heavy rock band, and use my low B string a lot, and it comes through with no problem. It provides a thump that you can feel in your chest, even when the... read more [+] whole band is cranking. My 2 guitarists both use Mesa triple rectifiers and we play LOUD. I knew I needed a cabinet that would cut through and provide a thumping low end that would could all feel through the entire mix. This cabinet delivers. May 1, 2012 Music Background: 18 years of playing, performing, recording, The sound is very articulate, and clear. The beauty of 12" speakers for bass, is that they provide a wider and more robust midrange that you can not achieve with 10" speakers. 10's are tight yes, but 12's deliver a more full-range of sound that you have to hear to understand. I'm hearing and feeling tones out of my bass that I was not able to get out of 10's. I would stand this cabinet up against any 8x10 cabinet on the market. 15's can be great too, and its all about preference and playing styles, but 12's are still a lot tighter than 15's, yet, more full sounding than 10's. close [-] Mesa cranks!

I just recieved my Mesa yesterday, removed the box, and right away you can see, feel, and smell the quality that Mesa has incorporated into this 4 x 12 bass monster. It looks way better in person than... read more [+] in the pictures. The construction quality is phenominal on these cabs (as it should be) The top handles, and bottom rollers are essential if you have to move this by yourself. If you don't have a truck to move this cab around, i would choose a smaller cab. It is bigger in person than it looks in the pic's also.- Okay, enough about the looks. I hooked my Carvin BX-1500 amp up to this cab, and started with 750 watts. After dialing in my amp eq, compression, and freq's. i turned her up half way, and thought it was going to blow my hat off my head- no kidding. I have been playing bass guitar for 35+ years, and i have never heard any rig that sounded better. Freakin loud, clear- no distortion, and deep gut thundering bass toneage!!. I rolled the mid's off of my head, and got the sound i've been looking for all my life- i thought. I turned my amp off, and reset it for mono bridge (1500 watts), fired that amp up and holy smokes, im writing this review to tell ya, i am blown away. It sounds better with the extra wattage pushing those 12" speakers. WOW!. Great job Mesa. I wont ever have to look again for a bottom with more head room. I am impressed. close [-]
