Shure Rocks Again!
by George Tortorelli from gainesville, fl., January 2004

At first glance, you might say "How can a $50 mic be very happining, but let me tell you, that from the very 1st listen you will be be VERY pleased with the smoothness & warmth of this new little sister of the classic SM57!
I even think that I like it better than the original, in that it has a bit less rumble to EQ out, being that it's a 50k mic rather than the original 40k.
And the physical lines of the mic itself are much more pleasing to work with than the tight square edged mic capsule of the SM57. Unless your a snare drum, maybe!

It's excellent for vocals & instruments alike, because the flatter top on the mic screen lets you "get ontop of the diaphram" better, for a fatter volume/proximity effect.
Perhaps there is more handling noise than the SM57, because the mic seems the be made of an alloy, rather than the old scool heavy metal!
But hey, for the $, Shure still Rocks!
Best all around mic for the $ !!
