This set is about as real as a kid kit can be. The cymbals of course aren't that great, but the shells themselves sound fantastic. The kick sounds massive for an 18" which I thought was supposed to be... read more [+] a 16". Regardless, it's just about the right size for my son. The snare is a bit weak on tone, currently. I may be able to tweak it a bit more to taste, but swapping the snares wires would probably be good enough to get it up to par. The toms have a fantastic tone. Clear, tight, and punchy. The shells honestly sound nothing near as small as they are and tune up rather easy. Everything has a wide range of adjustment. My son is two but rather on the tall end for a two year old. The kick pedal is easily adjustable to have the perfect tension for little tots. My only minor complaint is with the cymbals, but they're even better than I expected them to be. The amazing shells alone are worth the price of this kit. I highly recommend this kit for anyone looking to get something that will last awhile with their kids. As anyone with young ones knows, anything they're going to be hitting better be able to stand up to anything.
