Players from all genres have embraced the P Bass®, and it continues to be a favorite in the studio and on stages everywhere. As with so many of Fender's original designs, the man got the essence of a great instrument right the first time, and over a half-century later the American Standard Precision Bass stands as a sterling example.

American Standard updates
The American Standard series basses include Fender's High Mass Vintage Bridge, designed to improve tone and sustain, as well as providing great tuning stability. Lightweight tuning machines are also included, giving you smooth operation.

Don't be one of those people that look at the price of the American Series Fender basses and think they don't measure up to other more expensive models. I've been playing Fenders for quite a while but... read more [+] hadn't bought a new bass in years and thought about trying something new (like a more expensive model). Long story short...When I picked up the American Series P Bass, my decision was made to buy it. Like Linda Richmond would say, "It was like butter". It plays so smooth and the sound of the wood is outstanding. And just as importantly, it's made in the USA! You can't beat the classics and this is no exception. close [-]

Sweetwater Advice

Ryan Murphy
The Fender P-Bass is a classic. It fits right in the mix of any band by filling out the low end. Thick, fat, and round.
