The 62 AVRI Precision is an awesome bass. The bass plays like a vintage instrument, and has tone in spades. The sales reps at Sweetwater(Tony Dayton) are the best.

Simply killer! I own a 2011 Fender American Standard P-bass, a Fender 70's P-bass reissue (MIJ) and I've auditioned many other P-basses. I could never find an American Vintage '62 P-bass in my l... read more [+]ocal shops, to audition.April 30, 2012 Music Background: So after seeing this '62 Three Tone beauty here on sweetwater.com, I couldn't help myself. Dave Walent was very helpful (as usual) and I placed the order. It arrived quickly, within 3-4 days. I have never played a 7.25 fretboard radius, but now, that's all I want to play. Leo Fender was a genius.....he knew what he was doing. This bass is spectacular. It's light (8 lbs and 4 oz), it hangs on my body perfectly and fits my body like a mold. The sound is beautiful. Big, warm and oh so musical. Sounds outstanding when I play/practice at home and in the mix with my band. I was a little concerned about the 1.75" width at the nut. I have smaller hands than most bass players I know. But much to my surprise, my hands adjusted literally overnight and I find it so much easier to fan my fingers out and fret. It has actually improved my technique. It's such a comfortable and natural feel. As always, these things are a matgter of personal preference and taste, so your milage may vary. But I sure encourage everyone to audition these '62 American Vintage Reissues. They are high quality, first rate instruments. As always, Dave and Sweetwater are Top Notch, Five Star in their customer service and gear! I've bought from several different shops (both local and on-line). No one is better that Sweetwater! They are in a league of their own. close [-] The soul of James Jamerson personified

If your looking to emulate that Motown/Funk Brothers/James Jameson sound: look no further. This P Bass is the real deal. I drove to Fort Wayne to test drive this beast. Replace the equipped roundwound strings with flatwounds and stick a piece of foam in the bridge, and you're all set. I was only going to try this out, but I ended up leaving Sweetwater with it. Nate EdwardsDo you want a bass that growls? Would you like to lay down your groove with authority? This is what you need! I love the P-Bass, and no matter how many other basses I buy, I keep coming back to this classic piece. It sounds great and is dead simple, what more can you ask for?
