I'm not a mastering engineer. The most remarkable thing about this program is that it pretty much instantly makes your mix sound a lot more like a finished record. It's a no-brainer, so you get inst... read more [+]ant gratification, even if you know very little about what's happening. As you get further into the program however, you start to learn how to tweek things to your liking. I used to use Bias Peak, which went out of business, and it took a lot more work to get a "master" that sounded good. I think Ozone 5 is easier to use and sounds better. That being said, this program has some limitations. It does not "compile" (if that's the correct word) your songs, or enable you to create a playlist, so that you can then burn a red book compliant CD. I guess you need another program for that. BUT, it is so easy to use, and convenient, because it is a plug-in that I can enstantiate from within Pro Tools on my 2-track mix. Maybe it's because I have only used Bias Peak, which was gitchy and froze a LOT, but which had CD-compiling/burning capability, that I have come to expect any "mastering" program to have similar capabilities. Alas, O5 doesn't do that. But what it does is pretty damn awesome, and I'm really glad I bought it. close [-]
