I'm using Ozone 4 with Sonar 8 in windows XP 64 and they work incredibly together. I didn't waste my time with Waves mastering plugins (they still don't have 64-bit support) and for the price there is... read more [+] no way you can pass up Ozone. I simply drop it in as an insert on the master bus and no longer need to open a seperate mastering project. (note: 64bit operating system, 8 gigs of ram, and a quad core processor make this possible, may not work for less efficient systems). The maximizer is priceless, just as effective as the legendary Waves L2, every aspect of each effect in the Ozone quit is more flexible than any other, you can adjust parameters that simply aren't on other plugins. I use Ozone's dithering and leave dithering set to none when exporting from September 8, 2009 Music Background: seasoned drummer/guitarist, recording engineer Sonar and it sounds killer. by Chuck Chambers from Watkinsville, GA
I've used Ozone for about a year now. Ozone 4 is an amazing upgrade to Ozone 3, which I thought was already great. The paragraphic EQ is easy to use and the isolation function allows me to hear prob... read more [+]lems frequencies quickly. Also, being able to adjust the spectrum hold times between realtime, 1s, 3s, 5s, 10s and infinity and the ability to analyze a song I like, save the EQ spectrum as a snapshot and use it as a reference really helped me learn by allowing me to see what I was hearing. The Reverb module is excellent with tons of choices. The new Intelligent II setting in the Loudness Maximizer allows me to gain more volume without causing distortion and pulling all of the instruments to the front. The correlation meter and "phase-scope" with the ability to invert L and R, switch L/R, mono and 90 deg phase rotation help point out problems with my mix and serve again as a visual aid. The harmonic exciter module gives a huge array of choices in adding flavor to the mix especially with the multi-band function. The multi-band dynamics section allows expansion, gating, limiting and compressing with different settings in up to four bands. The stereo imaging function is great for adding width and/or pulling in bass to give it more punch again on up to four bands. The addition of the mid/side capabilities and the ability to choose which module uses it been a big help in adding space to my mixes without causing mono issues. The new presets are better and better organized and serve as a great way to get started. All in all it is a great adjunct that I use on tracks and the final mix. It is well worth the money and would be at 5 times the price. Do like I did, check it out at www.izotope.com, download the trial version and take your mixes for a test drive, just be prepared to purchase it because you will not want to give it back!!! close [-]

I had purchased Ozone 3, and while I liked it, I found it wasn't adding the magic I needed. As it turns out, in my inexperience, what I needed was a bus compressor, not a mastering suite. Now, a few... read more [+] months later, after getting my hands on some dynamite bus compressors from URS and Waves (I reviewed the URS 1980 here on Sweetwater)I gave Ozone another try and I saw just how good it was. I could push the limiter further than an L2, and with more clarity (though not as much warmth). Now, onto Ozone 4: The limiter is even better, the eq is smooth, the presets are more useful, and the saturation modes (tape, tube, etc.) are very musical. The dithering algorithms are very good as well. All in all, a very good package, and for its low price it's a steal for what it can do. close [-]
