The Legendary GML 8200 EQ for Pro Tools HD!
NOTE: This product requires iLok authorization. For more information, call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer at 1-800-222-4700.

The Sonnox Oxford EQ GML Option offers the acclaimed control range and responses of the classic outboard GML 8200 to the Pro Tools HD user - it even produces center frequencies up to 26 KHz while running at 44.1 KHz or 48 KHz! The 8200 EQ is loved for its sonic detail and sensitive musical character, and this plug-in is fully ensorsed by George Massenburg, giving you all the finer characteristics of the classic analog outboard unit, complete with digital, plug-in convenience. Boost your Oxford EQ collection with the Sonnox Oxford EQ GML Option!

Sonnox Oxford EQ GML Option at a Glance:
  • Classic EQ in a convenient plug-in
  • Add-on to the Sonnox Oxford EQ collection

Classic EQ in a convenient plug-in
Go into any major recording studio, anywhere on earth, and you'll probably find at least one GML 8200 Parametric Equalizer in the rack or built into the board. It's that clear! George Massenburg, the inventor of parametric equalization, created the GML 8200 for no-compromise audio environments in which the wrong EQ could mean the difference between a Grammy and an also-ran.

Add-on to the Sonnox Oxford EQ
The concept behind Sonnox's Oxford EQ plug-in is to provide an EQ that does what an analog EQ does and then add in the extra features that only digital technology can provide. Most EQ plug-ins are based on a lookup table. That means when you sweep through the frequencies and gain control, you are actually sweeping through presets. Your settings are determined by the software designer's choices, not yours, or the requirements of the music. The Sonnox Oxford EQ does its calculations on the fly using 48-bit double precision calculation. The result is that you get the frequencies you select, not the software designer.

In most EQ plug-ins, if you select a frequency and boost, the graphic display shows an even curve upwards and downwards around the center frequency. Due to the calculations necessary at 1/2 the Nyquist theorem for the downward slope, hi-frequency cramping occurs so that most of the energy is in the upward slope or lower frequencies. This means that while your GUI shows a boost at 14k, you're actually boosting at about 8k due to the cramping in the downward slope. The Sonnox Oxford EQ reshapes the down side of the slope as the inverse of the upward slope so that the high frequency energy is equal on both sides of the center frequency. The Oxford EQ's de-cramping algorythm maintains the Hi-frequency energy so that you can take advantage of the extended high frequency range of the Massenburg EQ option.

Sonnox Oxford EQ GML Option Features:
  • Enhances the Sonnox Oxford EQ plug-in by adding a GML-8200 emulation as an additional EQ type
  • Common control interface features with the built-in Sonnox Oxford EQ types
  • Extremely accurate GML 8200 emulation with center frequencies up to 26KHz
  • Highly accurate control range and law matching with GML 8200 to retain the operational character
  • Extremely low noise and distortion of the Sonnox Oxford EQ processing
  • Pro Tools TDM plug-in

The Sonnox Oxford EQ GML Option gives you the GML 8200 in a plug-in!
