Virtual analog heaven!
Arturia has been a front runner in the virtual synth arena for a few years now, creating spot-on software replications of classic analog synths. New at NAMM this year, Arturia debuted Origin, which is the first Arturia hardware synthesizer. It's a modular system that opens new creative avenues in sound design. Loaded with modules extracted from some of the best synthesizers of all time (Moog Modular, ARP 2600, CS-80, Minimoog and Prophet VS), Origin lets you combine combine different models from different systems together, designing new synthesizers that never previously existed. Take the oscillators from the Minimoog, the filters from the CS-80, and the Bode shifter from the Moog Modular V to create your own synth. Origin can be used standalone to play live and also as a plug-in with your sequencer in the studio environment.

"I have actually played this synthesizer. The screen is beautiful, the build quality is excellent. the synthesis is... WOW! The modular nature of this synth makes it unlike any other synth out there. You can actually add modules to your chain and wire them however you want right on the Origin's screen. It also has USB for easy editing and data transfer capabilities. The pads are so lush and warm and the bass is mean as can be. I love the arpeggiators on this! I made this sound exactly like a TB-303 and I was even making arpeggiators with beats in them. If Arturia has taught us just one thing it is that they know how to make some of the best soft synths on the planet. Now, they bring all of the best classic synths together in the Origin."
