M-Audio Octane Review

I did some research before I bought this unit to make sure I picked the right addition to my Digi002. I am very pleased with my purchase. When comparing recordings made with the Octane to ones I had done with the Digi002's pre's the Octane sounds much better. It has far more clarity and presense. It really shines when I record drums. I think this is a great unit, especially for the price. I would consider comparing this unit to the new DigimaxFS. That wasn't out when I bought this and it would be worth comparing the two to see which one sounds better.

I use the octanes mostly on drums and i get really good sound from them. At first i had a little trouble getting phantom powered mics the gain they needed, but one day it started working fine. I havent tried to use the MS matrix yet, so i wouldnt know if its any good. Overall i have enjoyed this piece of equipment and it has worked flawlessly with my rig
