Fingerstyle Acoustic with Fishman Electronics The Martin OMCXK2E represents Martin's fervent comittment to environmental protection and bringing the Martin craftsmanship within the reach of every aspiring guitarist. The OMCXK2E is a direct result of that committment; and environmentally conscious and affordable instrument. More importanly, you'll also find the famous Martin sound and playability in the OMCXK2E. Martin OMCXK2E at a Glance:
Acoustic/electric OM Body (Orchestra) with Cutaway Martin has devised ways to use HPL to build traditional Martin shapes, such as the OMC (Orchestra/cutaway) body of the OMCXK2E. The Martin Orchestra (OM) body is considered by many to be the ultimate fingerstyle guitar. Models of this style from the '30s sells for tens of thousands of dollars. OMs are renowned for their power, excellent balance between treble and bass, and superb note definition. If there's a steel-string classical guitar, it's the OM. The OMC body is Martin's Orchestra body with a Venetian-style cutaway that grants easy access to the upper frets. Belgium's premier fingerstyle virtuoso, Jacques Stotzem uses the OMC in concert (in fact, there's a Martin Artist Series OMC with his name on it). Koa High Pressure Laminate As a member of Martin's X Series, the affordable OMCXK2E is constructed with a combination of highly compressed wood fibers (High-pressure-Laminate, abbreviated HPL) and traditional tonewoods. The back sides and top of the Martin OMCXK2E are crafted with HPL that is given the dark-textured veneer of beautiful Hawaiian koa. The fingerboard is Morado, also known as Pau Ferro, which is latin for "Iron Wood." Not quite a member of the rosewood family, Morado shares it's appearance, but is more dense, thus contributing to stability and strength of the neck. Fishman Classic 4T The Fishman Classic 4T system installed on the Martin OMCXK2E offers high-quality sound, versatile tone shaping and a convenient digital tuner. The preamp's four-band equalizer lets you dial in acoustic tone to match your playing style. For example, if you're a fingerstyle player, you use the Classic 4T's EQ to add fullness to the bass and definition to the treble. If you're just strumming, want scooped mids, or need to cut through a mix, the Classic 4T can handle that as well (you'll find appropriate settings suggested in the Classic 4T's manual). You'll find the famous Martin sound and playability in the affordable OMCXK2E.
