My search is SO over
by Spanky McCallister from Bloomington, IN, May 2008
Music Background: 45 years of most everything
This is a killer organ. I played a Roland VK-7 for years, never liked the slightly more cheesy sound of the VK-8. I've played the Hammond Suzuki's, Korgs and several others and nothing comes as close to the Nord C1. Great feel, GREAT sound. I wish for "real drawbars," for sure. The drawbar buttons react a little quickly and I miss the feel of the bars as they are adjusted. I'd buy a retrofit to get the drawbars back (Hello? Nord?) And I run it through a Speakeasy Vintage pre-amp to warm it up a touch, but I've been doing that on the Roland, too. On top of everything else, the thing is only 33 pounds! Highly recommended. I use a Nord electro 73 for pianos, too. Both great values and workhorses.
Fantastic Organ, Great Sound!

This organ is very well made, its sturdy yet light, very portable!
Everything you need to create your own or others signature organ sound. Waterfall keys! Feels just like those vintage organ keys, only these ones wont stick or fail on ya!!! The added bonuses that vintage organs do not have: Midi and USB baby, talk about getting great recorded organ tracks in the place you think is a studio!!!
At first glance, I was like yikes! thats a lot of money!? but then I quickly realized that this is a steal! Why? Well, you are getting three vintage organs with their lower manuals!!! The Vox Continental (for all you Doors fans out there!) the Farfisa, and the Hammond B3 sound for all you groove heads out there! Nord will get you with the accessories though(it only comes with the power cord and manual) The only thing I sprang for was the music stand, I'm thinking about getting the Leslie "half-moon" switch, but definitely not the retro style legs/stand to hold this organ up. I already have a Z-style Onstage stand that holds my 88-key stage piano on the lower arms and this organ on the upper arms together...talk about a great piano/organ rig!!!
I bet Ray Manzarek wishes he had this baby back in 1967-71 with the Doors!!! Although he probably has this baby now, if not, he most certainly should. Talk about eliminating money, sweat, and back hernia, from your touring cost lugging around heavy problem-prone vintage rigs... If your thinking about getting a organ and need it for shows/touring or the studio, this is the one to get. Especially if you enjoy jamming out mod 60's/organ blues style like the Doors...The best thing about this organ: the sound it creates, the ease of use, and weight, the worst thing? well obviously the large amount of $! But if you are considering buying a organ, you are not going to find anything close to this for less...this is the best clone wheel I've played so far! It smacks the pants off anything Hammond or Roland has put out so far...as far as portable clone wheels are concerned!
Wish I Had One...

The only reason I don't give this unit a '5' is because I don't own it yet. I do own the Electro 2, and tried and true B3 players use it in my studio, and are absolutely enamored with the Electro 2. A true old school B3 player will love having two rows of keys and tonal options, and this keyboard would more than satisfy the guys who have come through my studio.
Although some would argue that actual drawbars would be nice, the virtual drawbars are just fine for a studio situation. Just set your presets and take off. If I had the extra $$$ right now, I'd buy it. The sounds are incredible, the Leslie simulator is top notch, and this unit would be great for live gigs because it's much lighter than the real thing. This keyboard isn't cheap, but for an organ player, it's tops on the list.
