Home Run!

I originally purchased the Night Train 15 and played it for a few weeks, but realized it wasn't exactly what I wanted. It sounded great, but I couldn't crank it and it wasn't versatile enough for live performances. I bought this amp knowing that I would love it though, and it surpassed my expectations. Lots of power and versatility in a small, easy to carry package. It's a two channel, but what you really get is three. The bright channel provides great, warm sounds and if you flip the thick switch, you can get some really cool bluesey tones. The girth channel can handle most of your rock needs. Maybe not enough gain if you're in a Pantera tribute band, but that's not an issue for me. The effects loop and foot switch (not included) are a big plus for live gigs. Over all it's a solid performing head at a great price.

Incredible!

My main amp was a Vox AC50CPH and I never was thrilled with the way it handled low tones. I'd seen the smaller models of the Night Train and fell in love with the retro chrome look, but the low power output didn't fit my needs. However, when I saw the 50 watt version, I had to try it. The "Girth" channel is capable of reproducing classic rock tones reminiscent of Marshall meets boutique. The low end definition is huge. The clean channel is incredible too with great Vox chime. The only fault I've found is that I'm not sure what was going through the minds of the tech designers when they decided to bypass the EQ for a gain boost in "Thick" mode - not a good decision. However, the Girth channel more than makes up for it with lots of variations and excellent tones. The size (under 20" wide) and weight are convenient, but the looks and sound are priceless. You won't go wrong at this price.

Great service, fairly old fashioned. I like it. Double checked the order over the phone, made sure I was'nt a card scam. There are better amps out there but at this price and availability you're not gonna find it. check the other reviews here and youtube they all say the same thing. pro sound, versitile very cool.

Vox Hits Another Home Run

I had the original 15 watt Night Train and I was amazed by the tone and dynamics of the amp, though I always wanted to be able to switch between Bright and Thick, but it being a single channel amp, I couldn't do it. Now Vox creates the 50 watt version with an FX loop, which wasn't on the original version. The NT 50 has 2 channels and can be switched between the two with an optional footswitch. This amp roars. It has a master tone cut, like the AC15 and AC30 and It is smaller and lighter than most amp heads.

It is a beautiful chrome on black design, which is very pleasing to the eye, but make no mistake. This is amp is a tone monster. Vox really listed to their loyal customers and delivered a winner. The controls for each channel are extensive, but simple to set. It takes pedal well even without using the FX loop.

If you get a chance to play one, by all means do it. For the $699 price tag, this is a steal.

Vox Night Train NT50H

I feel the folks at Vox have hit a home run with this amp. If you need an at home practice amp/Gig amp this will do both. This amp will give you all the chimey clean tones and all the crunch most players will ever need. I do wish it had come with a carry case like the smaller Night Train. I didn't give it a 5 star because I don't feel any product is ever perfect. Having said that I must say I give Sweetwater a 5 Star + rating! When you buy from Sweetwater rest assured your sales Rep. and Sweetwater will go above and beyond to keep you a satisfied customer.
