From Our Research Team:

The Amp Head That Matches Your Lifestyle!

Vox's Night Train is no ordinary 15-watt all-tube guitar amplifier head. Vox teamed up with legendary amp designer Tony Bruno to design the perfect amp for the musician on the go. The Night Train weighs less than 17 lbs. and features an "armored box" design and an included padded carrying case, so you can take it anywhere. It sports a pair of EL84 power amplifier tubes and two 12AX7 preamplifier tubes - the same combination as Vox's AC15. Plus, you have the choice of a 15-watt mode or a more recording-friendly 7-watt mode with the Vox Night Train.

Vox Night Train 15-watt Tube Guitar Amplifier Head at a Glance:
  • Innovatively designed for the musician on the go
  • All tube tone - with the same tube configuration as the AC15
  • Two switchable power modes - 15 watt or 7.5 watt
  • Familiar Vox EQ controls with Bright/Thick switch
  • Both 8-ohm and 16-ohm speaker jacks for cabinet convenience

Innovatively designed for the musician on the go
Vox and renowned amplifier designer Tony Bruno joined forces to breathe new life into the guitar amplifier head. Recognizing that musicians are often on the go - jamming here, jamming there, and gigging everywhere - they designed the Night Train to pair up perfectly with that lifestyle. The Night Train weighs less than 17 lbs. and it features a rugged "armored box" design. The industrial vibe not only looks cool, but its diamond-mirrored finish with cut-out holes shows off that warm tube glow when you're playing your Night Train. Vox also included a padded carrying pad, so you can securely tote your Night Train wherever you go - with style.

All tube tone - with the same tube configuration as the AC15
While the Vox Night Train brings a new look to the Vox line, you can expect nothing but true Vox tone. Thanks to its EL84 power amplifier tube pair and 12AX7 preamplifier tube pair, the Vox Night Train features the same winning tube complement as Vox's classic AC15. Bring the Night Train everywhere from chime-like clean tones to warm overdrives - you'll love its signature, harmonically rich tube tone.

Two switchable power modes - 15 watt or 7.5 watt
On top of its portability and signature Vox tones, the Night Train also boasts flexibility. Right on the front panel, you can choose between Pentode Power or Triode Tone. Pentode Power pumps the Night Train at its full 15 watts of tube tone. But, in Triode Tone, you'll pull the amp back to 7.5 watts - perfect for recording or for practicing at more manageable volume levels. What's more, when the Night Train is in Triode Tone, the tube power stage relaxes a bit, giving way for more of a silky-smooth, mellow tube character.

Familiar Vox EQ controls with Bright/Thick switch
The Night Train's panel gives you Vox's usual complement of controls, including Volume, Gain, Treble, Middle, and Bass controls. Plus, the preamplifier section also features a Bright/Thick mode switch. In the Bright mode, you'll accentuate the Night Train's higher frequencies for a more ringing tone. But, in the Thick setting, you'll bypass the tone circuit to boost the gain and call up a chunkier, heavier sound.

Both 8-ohm and 16-ohm speaker jacks for cabinet convenience
Since there are both 8-ohm and 16-ohm speaker outputs onboard, you'll be ready to play nearly anywhere there's a cabinet - just show up with your Night Train, and you're off.

Vox Night Train 15-watt Tube Guitar Amplifier Head Features:
  • 15-watt all-tube guitar amplifier head
  • Portable "armored box" design with included padded carrying bag
  • Switchable between 15-watt Pentode Power Mode and 7.5-watt Triode Tone Mode
  • Features 8-ohm and 16-ohm speaker outputs
  • 2 EL84 power tubes and 2 12AX7 preamp tubes - same combination as the AC15
  • Bright/Thick Switch and Treble, Middle, and Bass Controls
  • Gain and Volume Controls
  • 12.13" (W) x 6.30" (D) x 6.97" (H)
  • Weight: 16.98 lbs
  • Includes: Power cable, Speaker cable, and Carrying bag

The Vox Night Train is a no-compromise tube amplifier head - that's designed for the musician on the go!

At this price - GET TWO!

by Steve Fitzsimmons from Atlanta GA

Music Background: Gigging singer/songwriter/guitarist
No reverb was almost a deal-breaker, but the cleans are so sweet and resonant you won't miss it. And yes, you might want to get two and run a stereo rig that can hang tough in a relatively large room.... read more [+] I already have another nice 15-watter, but if I didn't, I would seriously consider getting two. Standby switch is a great feature for such a small amp, and I'm using a 1x10 closed-back cabinet (Yes, you read that right) with a 60-watt Celestion G10 Vintage in it. MUCH louder and cleaner than I expected, and there are some great high-gain tones as well. Don't walk, run! close [-]

BIG SOUND!...small package(and price!)

by Chris Conway from Orrville OH
November 2, 2012
Music Background: Pro Musician, Engineer, Producer.
I'm mainly a working bass player with a project studio. I play guitar occasionally in the studio. I wasn't really in the market for a guitar amp until I demo'd the NT15 at a local music store. I l... read more [+]iked the sound but wasn't ready to shell out $400 for it. Shortly thereafter Sweetwater posted a deal that I couldn't pass up. I ordered it, plugged it into my 2-12 cab, and was immediately overwelmed by the power and sound of such a small amp! I've been playing alot more guitar lately and have been inspired to write/record several songs with this baby. It records wonderfully...way better than my Reverend Hellhound or Princeton Reverb. Nice warm tubey chime on bright 15 watt setting. Killer distortion on thick setting. Humbuckers, single coils, pedals all sound great through the NT15. I prefer a Mesa V-2 pedal up front but this amp does just fine on it's own. Any shortcomings i.e. no eq in the thick setting, no efx loop, no reverb can be easily overcome with a couple of good pedals. Still...BIG BANG FOR BUX! close [-]

Awesome Amp

The amp for the money is amazing. The clean sound is that beautiful cyrstal clear chime. The high gain sounds great with just running through the amp . It's plenty loud enough to cover most venues. Th... read more [+]e thick mode sounds really good , bypassing all of the EQ. Vox set the sweet spot. The bright mode give you control of the EQ to adjust to your own liking. The full and half power modes work great letting you chose from 7.5 watts to 15watts. I use a HD 500 pedal and it sounds grreat with the amp. Highly recommend this amp and Sweetwater close [-]

Night Train 15 = Awesome

by Pat S from Dickinson TX

Music Background: Guitarist
I wanted a small amp head to be able to practice at home with. It sounds so great on either setting (15 or 7.5) and I love the thick option. The distortion is so thick and great.
