From Our Research Team:Reissue of a Fender Classic!Fender proudly reissues the '65 Mustang®, (which was the first full year of Mustang® production). The Mustang was originally one of Fender's 'student models' but was destined for the big time; seen slung over the shoulders of icons like David Byrne, John Fruisciante, Kurt Cobain, Todd Rundgren and Adrian Belew to name just a few! I've got a Mustang Competition Model which came out 2 years ago & not this '65 Reissue, though I'm sure the specs are quite similar. Nice thin neck on it, easy to play if you have small hands. by Doug Pratt from Atlanta, Georgia
My Mustang was made in December of 1965. It's exceptionally light with very nice balance. The Poplar is soft, dings easily, and my axe has some scars. The action is pretty low and the 22 original, s... read more [+]mallish frets are in great shape. The neck is the longer 24 scale option. I'm six feet tall so I'm having to get used to the smaller neck, but the advantage is it's easier to stretch my pinky up the neck. August 10, 2009 Music Background: Since 1964, avocationally playing Delta Blues, Folk-Rock, Rock, and some old-timey Southern stuff. What I like most is the phase-switch. With the pickups in phase, I can get tones approximating Tele-twang or close to Strat-thick through my Peavey Classic 30. But with the pickups out of phase and the gain on my amp turned up, I get a deep honkin' tone that's fun to experiment with. This is a collectable vintage guitar and a road-worn player no where near ready to retire. Doug Pratt close [-] Also popular
