I was looking for a solid state head as a backup to my Carvin Legacy, and my salesman recommended the Mustang V. The sound is up front and the amp modeling is really great. And it comes with the 4 but... read more [+]ton pedal and software for deep editing. For the price, you can't go wrong. I'm trying to talk the other guitar player in my band to get one to back up his Marshall. Thanks, Matt for suggestion to get it! close [-]

Man, I remember when I had my faithful Fender Power Chorus back in the day, then later the Ultra Chorus. Those solid state amps took me many places and they never let me down. I did recordings, shows,... read more [+] etc and I always got good tone. Now, the Mustang V comes out and WOW, I really dig Fender's snap on this one. This amp rocks on so many levels where others have failed completely. The Mustang V has great fender amps onboard and an impressive interface with Fuse software/USB connectivity. Well Done Fender! Plus, the head comes housed in a super solid wood cabinet. You heard right - I mean super solid wood cabinet that’s hard as nails: WOW WOW! I’m a pro player, and with amps costing an arm and a leg these days we need some outfit to step up and give as an alternative. Tube is good, but solid state is economically more efficient and if you play you can make any amp sound great cause it’s in you. But, this Mustang price is fabulous for what you get, and I also bought the matching 4x12 cabinet which is outstanding. Get this rig, you won’t be disappointed and take your musical vision to places only you can imagine! close [-]

March 24, 2012 Music Background: Pro musician Perfect for my needs
by Drew Gilman from Orlando, FL
When I first got the amp and started experimenting, I immediately realized its potential as a great sounding amp. But after a few days of playing I noticed one HUGE flaw: when changing between presets... read more [+], there was a delay. This would be detrimental in a live show setting because you would undoubtedly miss the downbeat. I was very sad and reminded myself that I bought this amp primarily for recording where "change-on-the-fly" wouldn't be relevant. Then a few days ago while perusing the Fender FUSE support pages looking for some answers to unrelated questions I stumbled upon a fun article called, "Firmware update for Mustang Amps". One problem it specifically said it fixed was the lag time between switching presets. Then the angels sang and I smiled and a near-perfect modeling amp just became a perfect modeling amp. So moral of this story: this is a great amp for those who appreciate modeling amps, but as soon as you get it, update the firmware. It sounds good on tape, looks great, easy to use. Oh and I only gave it 4.5 stars because the USB recording only works with the supplied Ableton Fender edition software. I use Pro Tools and it doesn't support Fender ASIO. I wish it did. close [-]
August 27, 2011 Music Background: Musician, Songwriter ANOTHER MODELING AMP........
by wolfman63 from Ohio
Like many others, I've tried modeling amps, Line 6, Yamaha, Peavey, and now Fender. Like .....the guy seen beating himself on the head with a hammer. When someone asked him why he did it, he replied "... read more [+]Because it feels so good when I stop." I have stopped. They are great if you've got time to sit around and tweak and store and fiddle and fart around. Fine for when school's out for the summer. But far as I'm concerned, they're just gagets that don't work for me. Give me simplicity and consistancy. Yeah I'm a dinasour. That said, it should be obvious that I wasn't thrilled with the gig performance of this amp. May be great for some but not for me. close [-]
