Customer Reviewsfrom Glenview, IL USA November 5, 2012Music Background: Musician Fender Kirt Cobain MustangThe Kirt Cobain Mustang is a great guitar for getting a powerful sound from a small mustang profile. The humbucking pickup really makes this guitar a winner.from SD (Yep) June 2, 2012Music Background: Obsessionist Violent in all the right waysEven though I no longer listen to Nirvana, Cobain was the reason I picked up a guitar. I've got an American Strat and Tele but as fun as they are, neither guitar had a natural "anger" built inside. This guitar has a bite built in and has an incredible array of tones thanks to the switching configuration. The short scale is nice for me since I don't have giant hands. I grab this guy when I'm looking for a tonally sweet distortion monster and combined with a duecetone rat, I can always find the sound I'm looking for. All that said, it wouldn't be my go to guitar for most clean play. The switches really aren't made for on-the-fly adjustments like a strat or tele and the short scale seems to affect the sustain. I love the bridge and contribute the sturdiness to the Nirvana tone (or lack of vibrato). Having no intention of using the whammy bar I don't have an opinion on the tuning stability but I have been in and out of drop D with no real tuning issues (unlike my strat). This guitar is fast, violent, diverse and unique. More than pleased and even pleasantly surprised by it. Nice work Fender
