Premium tonewoods and intricate bird inlays
From sheerly an aesthetic standpoint, the Paul Reed Smith Modern Eagle II is incredible. Your eye might catch the PRS-famous bird inlays lining its 22-fret wide-fat black Dalbergia neck, then notice that each inlay is actually green and highlighted yet again with iridescent paua heart centers. Or, you might first catch the glossy curly maple top, finished to PRS' exacting standards. But while undeniably beautiful, virtually all of the Modern Eagle II's components are also chosen for their amazing effect on the tonal quality of the instrument. From the mahogany back to the curly maple top, rosewood neck and fretboard, 14:1 locking tuners, and PRS stoptail or tremolo - the PRS Modern Eagle II is a gorgeous, premium-quality instrument.

Special 1957/2008 humbuckers
The 1957/2008 pickups offered on the Modern Eagle II allow players to achieve both vintage and modern sounds. PRS obtained exclusive rights to the original pickup wire used in the most revered pickups in the '50s. PRS obtained the rights to the wire in 2008, and 1957 was the year the humbucker was first commercially available, giving rise to the 1957/2008 name.

Stunning Finish
Featuring the most advanced finishing technology, PRS has developed fat, ultra-high gloss finishes and rich stains that exquisitely highlight the color and grain of the woods while retaining the fast, smooth feel of vintage lacquer.
