  Good bang for your buck

I am using this small mixer for a talk back system with a digi003. It does it's job well. It is great for 2 track project studios on a very small budget. The mic pre's are a little noisy but what do you expect with a 60 dollar mixer.

My review of the Tapco Mix 60 compact mixer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi I am a singer/guitarist who plays in open squares and small venues.
I finally purchased Tapco compact mixer today

I tell you the story I had a Behringer Eurorack UB 802 compact mixer which i used to plug into my Mini 100 watt max powered Satgeline amp and from that ran my 200 watt pro sound speaker .I use it when I busk or do private garden parties.

The Behringer was'nt that bad it had lots of headroom. I ran my own Boss RRV-10 Reverb unit through the aux send and returns.

After a while I was'nt to happy with the Behringer I found it sounded a bit too thin and trebley .

So last week I got a Yamaha MG10/2, infact they had a Tapco blend 6 there for the same price but the guy in the music store told me the Yamaha was the best buy.

You know I wish I had tested them out and compared them before I brought the Yamaha. The Yamaha was a lot better then the behringer quality wise but you had to really turn it up before it had some edge and I noticed the sound was slightly muffed.

Anyway after searching the net and reading reviews I contacted the music store and then went and got a Tapco ultra compact mixer which is entitled Tapco Mix 60.

I tried it for the first time today at a gig , as soon as I pluged my Tapco into my amp , when I put the amp on I was blown away by the crystal clear quality sound that was coming through my speaker .

I realised that Tapco use mackie inspired mic pre's .

So I basically wasted my money on the Yamaha and they would'nt let me test them out in the shop, infact i am going to make a complaint to the music store as the guy said that the Tapco was'nt that good . He is wrong there, the Tapco smashes the Behringer and the MG 10/2Yamaha to bits.

But I tell you I am so glad I got the Tapco ultra compact mix 60 , though its small the sound you get is suprisingly superb.

Its amazing the Tapco is almost half the price of the Yamaha one but the Tapco is far better though the yamaha has 10 mic/line channel inputs and the the tapco only has 6. Bt quality wise the Tapco mix 60 did it for me.

And if this is what the Tapco entry level compact mixers sound like I would love to hear what the upgrades sound like.
I definataly recommend it.

Dave
