Used to be strictly a musician, now I'm an entertainer!

Too Much Fun!

Since I'm so old, I had a preconceived notion of lighting being heavy, hot, expensive and hard to run. Man, was I wrong! After seeing a demo of this Mega Par pack I bought one and it's light, cool and easy to run! AND the cost is a fraction of the old incandescents I'm used to, literally a fraction! Also the whole kit comes with gig bags! My 11-year-old can set it up in about 4 minutes. I've since bought another Mega Par pack and a bunch of other lights, because it's TOO MUCH FUN!!!

Great lighting solution for a budget!!!

I ordered these lights for my band and am really impressed with the brightness and coverage from just one light tree! I was originally looking at a couple of PAR 38 CAN sets (8 lights total) and my sales engineer suggested I look at the Mega Par Profile System. He was right, this small compact light kit packs a punch with very bright LED lighting, sequencing at the "step" of a button. Additionally, these lights can be expanded using DMX protocol which is a huge plus for long term return on the investment. Finally, I really like the fact that the lights produce no heat and can be carried in a gig case (provided) no larger than a bass or guitar case! Overall, a great product! Big thanks to Peter for suggesting them.

I could not give it 5 stars because I received two shipments with broken lights, specifically the housing on one of the lights. I think American DJ could have done a better job on the housing design of the lights because the plastic housings seems a little cheap and are not up to the task of passing the UPS test! However, I feel that normal everyday transportation conditions will not damage the lights if properly stored in the case.

Great coverage, but several improvements could be made...

Bought two units and they cover my 9-piece band better than expected. Nice and light, easy setup/teardown and easy to pack and schlep around. There are 2 issues I have with the lights: the control cables are not long enough to confortably reach the far side of the stage, and there is no way (without mods) to control both units from one foot controller. Otherwise I'm pleased with the quality and portability for the price. As always, my sales engineer did a great job (thanks, Jim!). There was a problem with one of the stands, and the customer service was outstanding. I am a longtime customer and expect to be for life.

It comes with a CASE!

This is a great package for a band or solo act to add lighting. I plan to use it for my solo act and entertaining as a DJ. I just used this at my first wedding event of the season and it performed very well. The built in programs are excellent and give variety to the dance floor. My favorite effect is where the light fades from color to color (step on the program pedal 11 times to get to it). Pros - no heat, light weight, quick teardown. I love that it came with a case!

Complaints:
1) You cannot add lights above the light bar. From the picture I thought it was a T bar. They should add the ability to put additional lighting on top. Some mounting screws would be nice.
2) The stand is NOT the standard size so my O clamps and additional 2' bars would not fit over the smaller than normal tubing.
3) I normally put a 2' tube out front with a mirror ball hanging and this is impossible with the size of the stand. I thought maybe the little part coming down from the control unit would be standard size but it is just a bit too small.
4) My biggest complaint is I thought these lights were the ADJ Mega PAR Profile lights and could be used individually as uplighting. While they look the same, they are not the same light and must be used with the stand to work. They cannot be disconnected because they are hard wired into the tree system.I bought this primarily to use for uplighting and the price was cheaper - I should have considered more reviews and done better research. In hindsight, I should have purchased four Mega PAR Profiles instead to meet my immediate needs.

I didn't plan on over loading it - just adding a REV4 on the front and a laser on the top. Now I plan to bring a second tree to every event so I can use my other lighting. Another complaint is it seems too bright at times but none of the guests complained. I will keep it because it is so easy to set up and tear down and it looks great on stage.
