Coming from JBL 2300 needed an upgrade really bad! I was a little concerned when I saw how small the speakers are. I was even more concerned when I saw banan/spade terminals on sattelites. So it took ... read more [+]me a little longer to hook it up. When I turned them on I was literally blown away! The sound is amazing! I was able to finish a demo CD for a local band in no time! Mix translated very well, sounding good in trucks, a car, boombox, iPad. I did have speakers sitting on Auralex mopads pointing straight into my ears. Other than that and adjusting the sub I didn't have to do anything else. As a note you probably know the difference between ported and not ported speakers if you're looking at this. Get them! They are great! Don't let the small size fool ya:-) close [-]

I have to admit that the first time I fired the MediaDesk up, I was pretty un- impressed. In fact I almost boxed it up and sent it back. Given the fairly steep price I felt that the satellite speake... read more [+]rs sounded pretty tinny and the integration of the sub with the satellites was weak unless you were playing something really sub-heavy like techno. Before boxing them back up, however, I tried playing around with the placement of the satellites. When I placed the speakers about 2 feet away and right at ear level, their sound improved dramatically and made it much easier to dial in the woofer. I feel good enough about the system now that I decided I'm gonna keep it. If you're thinking of getting one be aware that it's very much a nearfield, highly placement-sensitive setup. If you don't have the option tweaking the placement I'm not sure you really gain much over buying a pair of less directional, active M-Audio, Tannoy or KRK 4" or 5" monitors and a small powered sub, which would cost you basically the same. close [-]
