Mesa/Boogie Private Reserve Mark5 112 Guitar Combo Amp at a Glance:
A tonal tour de force Randall Smith's "greatest hits package" is a tonal tour de force. A stunning achievement in guitar amplifier design, the Mark V packs an entire history of the Mark series into one amazingly versatile, supremely competent amp. From shimmering cleans to chunky breakup to full-on, white-hot liquid inferno, the Mark V does it all - and with total composure. And no matter how overdriven, this amp never loses its clarity, remaining sensitive to your pick attack at all times. Three channels - no waiting Three footswitchable channels with identical controls make operating the Mark V a pleasure. Channel 1 contains the lowest gain sounds of the three channels and is your source for everything from chimey blackface-inspired cleans to crispy bassman-esque sag. Channel 2 is the transitional channel between the low gain sounds of Channel 1 and the high gain fury of Channel 3. This channel contains the biggest differences between modes and there is definitely dialing required as you toggle through the voicing modes, from Brit edge to throaty crunch (and all points in between). Channel 3 takes it from there to encompass the best of the Mark Series overdrive sounds. Pure, blistering focus is the name of the game here, and no amp does it better. Mesa/Boogie's hi-gain heritage Mesa/Boogie founder Randall Smith started out modding amps for Bay Area bands in the late 1960s. His clients? The heavies of the San Francisco scene - the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver, Big Brother, Santana, Steve Miller, Country Joe and the Fish, and many more. Randall's (in)famous hot-rodded Fender Princetons from this era are the stuff of legend: how could a little 15-watt combo get so LOUD? Ever since Randall handbuilt the first Mark I amps in a Northern California mountain shack in in 1971, the name Mesa/Boogie has been a standard-setter in high-gain guitar amplification. Today, guitar greats such as Carlos Santana, Al Di Meola, John Petrucci, Andy Timmons, and Kirk Hammett use the distinctive, versatile voice of Boogie amplifiers to forge their signature sounds. And you can too. Mesa/Boogie Private Reserve Mark5 112 Guitar Combo Amp Features:
