Fender Mando-strat Solidbody Electric Mandolin at a Glance:
The classic electric mandolin is back
The first Fender electric mandolin, nicknamed the Mandocaster, was produced in 1956. They were extremely popular in many genres of music. Everyone from Jethro Burns to Sam Bush and many more have used this classic electric instrument. Utilizing the original rounded shape, the Fender Mando-Strat's alder body is lightweight and comfortable to play. The C-shaped maple neck is topped with a rosewood fretboard that sports 24 frets. The vintage-style adjustable bridge was made on the actual machine Fender used to make the original parts over 50 years ago. Finish it off with a sunburst finish, tortoise shell pickguard, and white-button tuners, and the Fender Mando-Strat is ready to take the stage.
Single-coil pickup for big mandolin tones
Forget the piezo pickups that are prone to insane feedback, the Fender Mando-Strat's solidbody design and custom-designed single-coil pickup virtually eliminate feedback issues. You get solid, full-range mandolin tones that will let your instrument be heard even in the densest mixes of guitars, bass, and drums. Just plug it into your favorite amp and start jamming. Want to experiment a little? Throw a distortion pedal, or your entire pedalboard, between the mandolin and your amp.

Perfect for electric giggers on a budget
by Jim Brown from Boston, MA USAI got one of these the last time Sweetwater had them in stock. There is a reason they are out of stock, folks, they are awesome! I bought mine as a gigging instrument. I was tired of mic'ing my acoust... read more [+]ic A-Style mandolin, which made me stick in one place on stage, and I didn't want to retrofit a pickup onto my existing mando (they just look clunky to me). I wanted something I could just plug in, no nonsense. This thing fits the bill perfectly.

Music Background: Intermediate player, hobbyist, performer
- wonderful for late-night practice (won't bother family/roommates)
- very responsive tone control
- good action out of the box, playable all the way up the neck
- only two bridge saddles, so intonation might be off (you can upgrade the bridge later though)
- great sustain
Right now, I'm plugging this into my Zoom G3 guitar pedal and playing it through the acoustic guitar simulator, then plugging into the PA system. It works fine. close [-]
Fender Mando Strat
by Francis Kelley from Quincy, Ma. USAOverall I love it. Sounds great and is fun to play. Had one stripped screw in the top of the pick guard. Minor issue. The only change I would make is pickup location. Dead center of the picking area. ... read more [+]I would suggest moving it back a bit. Or maybe a lower profile pickup. close [-]
