Looking at the specs of the Mac Mini I didn't think it would have enough power to handle what I do. Before purchasing this, I purchased a new Imac.. and for some reason the unit did not run right, So I returned it and bought this. This thing is pretty fast. Its only a dual core machine.. however, because of the I5 chip it supports turbo boost up to 3.3ghz! and that definitely comes in handy. Right out of the box I upgraded the Ram to 8gb for now. But its expandable to 16. I will tell you, I have the entire waves mercury bundle, And all the toontrack products, and I'm using a good majority of them on every session I do. I'm not even using more than 40% of my CPU and its running fine. June 20, 2012 Music Background: Mixing Engineer, Musician, Songwriter. My complaints about the product though.. No CD drive, so I had to spend extra money on a external drive. The unit does get a little hot. And sometimes when it goes to sleep it has a hard time waking back up. sometimes my screen will just go to snow, and flash green for a bit... and after a minute or two it will finally come back on. For songwriting and music production this is a great tool. When I get back in to mixing and mastering projects fulltime again, Not sure if this will handle 100 tracks and 1000 plugins! we will see though! I may have to get another system! close [-]
