Customer Reviewsfrom boston, ma July 1, 2008 Music Background: recording engineer, musician, live sound, student awesomei actually use the yamaha mw12. that one is the same exact thing except it doesn't have any compression or effects so i can't rate those. so i mainly use this thing to route all my inputs to from external gear like seperate recorders and cd players so my monitors are hooked up to them. i also run anything out of my computer into this thing and through the speakers. i don't use this thing for tracking, i use a korg d888 and route the monitor outs to a stereo input on this thing. but i do use it for doing extra pieces and some vocals once i import the tracks from my korg onto the computer. i did have some latency issues at first ( its only usb 1.1) but after some buffer and driver configurations and a gold-platted usb 2.0 cable this thing works without any latency. the pres on this thing are o.k. but for the money its good. i also love the aux inputs on this thing for cd players and ipods. a down side to this thing is that the inserts on mine were shot and caused a lot of noise. i don't know if i got a bum unit but it was bought brand new so if u check this thing out in store, ask them to hook it up to a piece of gear to test it out.overall, a good piece of gear but its not incredible although if yamaha did come out with a usb 2.0 version of this i would be all over it |
