Customer Reviewsfrom Bakersfield, Ca September 6, 2012Music Background: Drummer since 1970 This is a very good snare drumI own two other snare drums, the Mapex Black Panther Phat bob and a DW Snare. Both are good snare drums but I was looking for a snare that had a defined crack that could be used for county and classic rock. Basically I wanted an all-around snare drum. So I started looking and found the Yamaha MSD-1455.From out of the box to playing was about 30 min. A quick tune with the drum dial and a trip around the rim a number of times and it was ready to go. I practiced for about two hours at home and decided to take the Yamaha to band rehearsal that evening. I have taken the phat bob and the DW to rehearsal and nobody in the band has said a word but after rehearsal, the band leader came up to me and said, “Man that new snare sounds great.” Yea, it did. It’s not that the phat bob or DW sounded bad this Yamaha MSD-1455 just sounds really good. The price of this drum is up there and I pondered over it for a number of months. But given the sound, the ease of tuning and its good looks, I’m very glad that I bought it. I do not know how it will stand up over time, but it seems to be built very well. Check it out, it may be right for you as well. |
