Customer Reviewsfrom Grand Junction Colorado November 23, 2011 Music Background: 37 years of playing music in bands SAMSON MS 100These stands are just what I needed. Two of my band members one keyboard player and a guitar player couldn't believe the differance from using floor monitors and monitors on stands.from Houston, TX March 22, 2012 Music Background: Songwriter, Keyboards/Drummer, Home Studio Acceptable for light speakersI was very leery of these stands based on the previous reviews. I rolled the dice and bought them because (1) they were relatively inexpensive; (2) they were the only ones I found at the 30” height I needed; (3) the speakers I needed support for were small (9”x7”x6”), light, cheap consumer grade speakers, NOT studio monitors; (4) I have no small children or pets who might bump into them.Given my situation, I have had no problems at all with these stands. I’ve had them about one month. The carpet spikes provide adequate stability. The stands arrived in good condition and were easy to assemble. For heavier or more expensive speakers, I would opt for something else. The central telescoping pole threads into the base with thin grooves that could easily become unstable if stressed with heavier speakers. from Nashville Tn September 12, 2010 Music Background: Recording Engineer Samson MX100If you have carpet be careful. These are extremely unstable. Ive had one stand fall over twice. The base is not heavy and the part where you set the speaker is very unstable. If you can get them to balance out right they will work but stay away from them. I have Yorkville powered 6" monitors and they are relatively heavy so these stands might be suited for small light weight monitors.from Parkersburg, WV April 15, 2009 Music Background: Musician, wannabe recording engineer Junk.Took these stands home from a local music store. I had the samson resolv a6.5 monitors. These stands can barely hold them. and they are very unstable. I put 10 pound weights on the bases to help sturdy them and it still wasn't enough. I got some clips used to hold water pipes to studs and fastened the stands to the back of my desk. Even then I wasn't sure of the clamp that holds the speakers. about a month went by and I wanted to rearrange the control room and when I went to pick up the stand it broke. the base fell of and the joint in the middle broke. Now I have one 'good' stand thats as useless as the broken one. I won't put anything of value on these. Yeah they are cheap, but come on! Samson makes great stuff...so maybe I got a fluke??from Nashville Tn March 12, 2012 Music Background: Recording Engineer, Drummer WeakIf you have verry small monitors these may work for you. no 6.5" monitor in my opinion is safe on these.from SoCal November 17, 2011 Music Background: hobbyist with delusions of grandure check these can take your speakers/monitorsThese are not meant for larger monitors, at the price thats a given, but rather than send them back I thought Id use them for a pair of 5" nearfields instead (saves the shipment payments to send them back)Anyway, they are crooked with them, no matter what the adjustment, and with our predisposition for earthquakes in SoCal I might remove them as a slight case of wind looks enough to knock these over. Im not blaming sweetwater, though a better description wouldve helped with making a choice...hopefully this review will help someone else so id spend a few bucks more...Im not sure what these are designed for from Los Angeles, CA January 11, 2011 Terrible ProductI have to echo the previous reviews -- these are really crappy monitor stands. They can't handle the weight of even the lightest studio monitors. Even though my stands are on hardwood floors, they're still unstable because the pole wobbles. Even worse, within a few weeks of purchasing the stands, one of them broke! I woke up one morning and the telescoping column had collapsed. I'm lucky the monitor didn't bite the dust when it happened. Had to duct tape the broken stand so I could continue using it. Buy a different product!

from Nashville February 1, 2005 great stands... for light speakersThese stands are masterfully designed, brilliantly executed and gorgeous to look at. While they've been a sheer joy to have around the studio, they're absolutely worthless if their job is to steadily hold a pair of Behringer Truth B2031 monitors. A small child's curious touch, a cat's gentle caress or a very angry butterfly could send these moderately heavy speakers toppling these excellent speaker stands over, completely demolishing your precious workstation. If you make a slight grunting sound while lifting your studio monitors, these stands are not for you.NS-10s would probably be totally ok on these though. |
