though they might now be a perfect 5 i believe they're pretty close now i know you've read other reviews (as i have) that said these speakers are loud and i just want to say these speakers are LOUUUUU... read more [+]UD i mean oh my god i have the speakers themselves at half volume and my audio interfaces output level at literally 1/10th the max volume and this thing fills up the room my room is approx. 12 by 10ft. give or take and man can these babys sing lol i've been recording for about 2 years now and these sound very flat i can understand how some say the bass is a little uncontrolled but not too much its certainly usable BUY THESE NOW LOL close [-]

I had been using KRK V4 Series 2 monitors in my project studio due to space constraints - all the while waiting for Mackie to hopefully introduce a smaller set of monitors that I could use. My wait h... read more [+]as ended! Looking at the specs for the 2 sets of speakers, I was somewhat skeptical that the Mackies would sound that much better. They do. The low end on these is amazing - almost like having a sub. The highs are crystal clear while the mids are accurate and allow you to hear every detail. As a video editor, these qualities are important to me and Mackie has truly outdone themselves with the MR5s - especially at this price - upgrading was a no brainer for me! close [-]
