MPD24 and the KORG PadKontrol, itz a matter of choice and I like both

1st off let me state that I own the Korg PadKontrol also and this review will be based on my comparison of the two products. I will mainly point out the features that are important to me. The PadKontrol definately has the most sensative pads of the two products. You can hit ANYWHERE near or on the Korg pad and set it off. The MPD24 pads are good and have a very solid build, but are not as sensative. The way the MPD24 surpases the PadKontrol are it's sliders and knobs that can be easily edited both manually and through the use of the UniQuest Editor software. The MPD24 can hold 30 presets at once with 64 pads for each preset. 30 x 64, you do tha math, plus the knobs and faders. I have all the major and minor scales, plus Reason Redrum and other templates that stay locked and loaded on the internal memory of the MPD24. I just load up Reason 3 and I am ready to let it do what it do. The PadKontrol only holds 16 scenes or presets, each scene with only 16 pads. The MPD24 does not have a note repeat, or roll function like the Korg Pad Kontrol, so drum rolls must be done by hand (live play) with the MPD24. The big screen is definately a plus and takes the guess work out of manual editing if some things need to be done on the fly. The MPD24 has transport controls that work like a dream with Reason 3, which is why I chose the MPD24 to be a part of my mobile production unit. The MPD24 and a laptop is all I take on the road.
