Great River MP-2NV ReviewsSweetwater Advice
Andrew Stryffeler
The Great River MP2NV is a favorite of mine. I love putting vocals through this for added color and warmth. I never hesitate using it on guitar and demand them for drum overheads. Whatever it is I am recording I do not hesitate to use this pre to add character. It does not matter how many MP2NVs the studio has, it never seems like enough!
Customer Reviewsfrom Portland, OR January 14, 2012 Music Background: Songwriter Great PreampThis preamp is a studio workhorse. It is one of the best general purpose preamps out there. Sonically it's fairly clean, but the tone is variable because there are separate knobs for input and output levels in addition to a button that switches the impedance. Also the DIs are fantastic for synths/basses/guitars and have rock-solid low end.from Oklahoma City, OK December 13, 2011 Music Background: Music Producer, Studio Musician ONE OF THE BESTI use this ole pre on two AEA R84 ribbon mics plenty of SPL no problems there. Vintage sound maybe like an API don't know for sure. Also don't know why this isn't more popular this preamp as compared to vintech is FAR BETTER and even BETTER than the UA-2610S.from New Zealand September 24, 2007 Music Background: Singer/Songwriter Excellent Pre amp.I bought the Great River preamp just on two years ago, and have found it to be great on virtually everything, from vocals through to bass, guitar and keyboards. It is especially useful with ribbon mics, and the variable impedance loading feature, while rather subtle, does make a difference to the sound when the track is played back. It's quiet, and has a lot of gain on tap. I has hi-z inputs also, which is a bonus. As always, try it out, if possible, to see if it suits your needs, and has the sound characteristics you're after. If you're after a good allrounder, check it out. I give it a solid thumbs up. |
