It's Time to Get MO Yamaha in Your Studio!

Introducing the direct descendant of the pro-level MOTIF ES, the 88-key Yamaha MO8, featuring the same balanced hammer-action keyboard technology and mechanism as the Yamaha S90 ES. (Also available in a 61-key version; the Yamaha MO6.) The MO8’s amazing voices, high-quality effects and powerful filters derive from the same technology and feature the same memory capacity as the MOTIF ES—including the stunning Mega Voice technology. With an emphasis on modern styles, the MO has all the sophisticated synth sounds and drum kits used in today’s popular music—dance, club, urban pop, hip hop, R&B, techno, electronica, and more.

Yamaha MO8 at a Glance:
  • Voices, effects and filters derive from the MOTIF ES.
  • Built-in Phrase-based sequencer
  • DAW remote control

Song & Pattern Creation
The Yamaha MO8 features a built-in phrase-based sequencer that gives you an exciting set of tools to create your own music—more quickly and easily than ever before. The Yamaha MO8 allows you to trigger arpeggios and generate new, creative ideas on the fly. You can use them along with the Mega Voices to create unusual phrases. Combine the pre-programmed phrases into complete patterns, and then use the pattern chain functions and track looping to quickly craft your own songs. The Yamaha MO8 lets you generate an unlimited amount of pattern variations, via the semi-random Remix controls.

Computer Integration
The Yamaha MO8 features remote control functions to give you hands-on control over your DAW/sequencer software—right from the panel, plus, the Yamaha MO8 employs Yamaha's exclusive Studio Connections software, which means that compatible voice and multi-part editors will treat the Yamaha MO8 like a VSTi instrument with freeze function for freeing up CPU resources. With the Yamaha MO8 you have comprehensive hardware/software integration into your music production system — making the Yamaha MO8 the heart of your music production studio — but that doesn't mean the Yamaha MO8 has to stay at home...

Value Value Value

I was looking for something that was realistic and could create a very real grand piano feel in the playing, yet I also loved mixing and making synth songs and so forth. I tried many combinations of s... read more [+]mall modules with dedicated electric pianos which was nice but it was difficult using them.

After first trying the MO-8, it was overwhelming but once I got the hang of it, It was phenominal! SO EASY TO USE! I am very glad because it can do all the above, it mixes and creates complex patterns, and can be as simple can be when needing just a simple realistic piano.

There is a HUGE database for voices and editing/saving each one is a wonderful feature. Plenty of connectivity for other devices and great for live performances!

Overall, if you are looking for a great value and many functions, Yamaha has done it right. close [-]

Yamaha MO8 is awesome!!!!!!

I have been comparing workstation keyboards for quite awhile now. I've played the Roland Fantom X8, Korg Triton Extreme, Korg Triton Studio, and of course the Yamaha Motif ES8. All great keyboards, no... read more [+] doubt, but the there was something about the Yamaha MO8 that really got my attention.

After messing around on it, I realized I loved it not just because of the great piano action (that was important to me), but the sounds as well. They're crystal clear..., and most of the features come straight from the Motif ES8 but in a more affordable package, which I really liked. The acoustic pianos, rhodes, and organ, along with a generous collection of contemporary sounds for today's music were so realistic, and the drum kits are killer!!!! I compose and arrange music as well as play in a band, so I need to have the sounds and features to do that the best way I can. I believe the MO8 will not only inspire me to write a lot of great music, but also enhance my performances on stage. I don't do any sampling, and there's so many sounds on this keyboard that the lack of expandability isn't really a big deal. That's why I'm choosing this over the Motif ES8. Plus, the layout on this thing seems pretty easy, which I like. I have a good feeling the MO8 soon be in my studio. If you haven't checked it out, I recommend you do. close [-]

Our Customers Say...

Ninety-five percent of everything in this studio came from Sweetwater. My Sales Engineer is a lifesaver. I started working with him around 2005, talking to him about what my vision was for the studio. He was right there all the way.
