From Our Research Team:

A Compact Mixer Where Value Meets Quality!

The Yamaha MG mixers are built for great sound, total control, and superior reliability. In fact, they undergo the same rigorous quality and reliability tests as Yamaha's world-class PM-series mixing consoles. But, by taking full advantage of the latest Yamaha technology and manufacturing techniques, they have been able to pack these superlative mixers with more value than you'll find anywhere else. In short, they offer extraordinary performance and mixing power at remarkable prices!

Yamaha MG16/4 Mixing console at a Glance:
  • 16 input channels
  • 10 low-noise, high-precision mic preamps with phantom power
  • Versatile EQ for effective sound shaping
  • Four busses
  • Aux and effect sends and versatile outputs

16 input channels
The MG16/4 features eight mono microphone/line inputs and four stereo line inputs, two with mono microphone input capability. Gain trim covers a wide -60dB-16dB range for microphone input, and -34dB-+10dB for line input. Balanced XLR connectors are provided on all eight mono inputs and two of the stereo inputs (a total of ten XLR connectors), in addition to phone jack connectors. Two of the stereo channels can accept mono microphone input either via the XLR or phone jack connectors. The remaining two stereo inputs feature both phone jack and RCA inputs for broad connectivity. A separate stereo 2-TR input with RCA connectors is provided for independent input of signals from CD players or similar sources.

Ten low-noise, high-precision mic preamps, phantom power, and inserts
Ten high-performance head amplifiers in the MG16/4 will bring out the best in any dynamic or condenser microphone. All high-performance mic preamps in these consoles feature switchable phantom power for studio condenser microphones. A single switch turns phantom power on or off for all channels. Mono input channels feature insert I/O patch points so you can add compressors or EQ for vocals, a noise gate on a guitar channel, or other extra signal processing to individual channels as required.

Versatile EQ for effective sound shaping
Mono channels on the MG16/4 feature 3-band equalizers with high, low, and mid bands. High-pass filters are also provided on all microphone inputs. Stereo channels have 4-band equalizers with high, high mid, low mid, and low bands.

Four busses (stereo and group)
In addition to the main stereo bus, the MG16/4 has one post-fader AUX send and one pre/post switchable AUX send. Stereo and group bus assign switches are located above each channel fader. You could, for example, mix your instrument sources to the stereo bus while creating separate groups for the main vocal and chorus channels... or any bus configuration you need for your application.

Versatile outputs
In addition to the main L and R XLR and phone-jack stereo outputs, the MG16/4 also offers phone-jack control room, RCA-jack recording, and stereo phone-jack headphone outputs. You have plenty of outputs for a wide range of applications - monitoring, master recorder feed, etc. Phone-jack group outputs are also provided to allow independent output of the group bus mixes.

Yamaha MG16/4 Mixing Console Features:
  • 16-channel, 4-bus mixer
  • Ten low-noise, high-headroom mic preamps
  • 3-band channel EQ on mono mic channels
  • Switchable phantom power on mic channels
  • Reliable 60mm faders and illuminated switches
  • Compact, portable design
  • Rackmount adapters included

For a versatile portable console, you can't beat the Yamaha MG16/4!

Quality and Clarity

Great performer i've owned mine 18 months now, it replaced my tired Peavey XR684 which was a great work horse with quality FX so the Yamaha had a challenge on its hands to replace it, and i gotta say ... read more [+]it succeeded. The pre amps are indeed clean and clear the only thing i could fault the Yamaha MG16/4 on if i really had to was the FX lack a little warmth, but paired up with my JBL EON G2's music reproduction is bang on. close [-]

Great board for studio

by Patrick Kondratko from Northern Michigan, USA

I've had a MG16/4 lost to a fire, and now purchased a second one to replace it. It's that good.

The preamps are very clean and clear, I get more noise out of my speakers than my board.... read more [+]

I route all my studio equipment through the MG16/4, and it works very well, keeping everything coherent, and usable.

A minor flaw, is that when pushing the board, it starts to clip (audibly) before the meters are getting maxxed out. It's not a serious detraction, and easily learned, but it's a slight issue you'll have to keep in mind.

Very worthwhile board for the $$$. close [-]

Our Customers Say...

My Sales Engineer is the best. If I need it tomorrow, I have it tomorrow. He makes sure everything is in order and that I'm set up right. I've spent a lot of money at other places, too, but I don't remember them calling me to make sure everything's okay.
